# doubles allowed on Prelim FS?

There's a rule change for next year & it's not clear....

Previously the rule said only 2 double jumps may be attempted.

Now it says "Amend rule 3701 Preliminary Well-Balanced Free Skate (page 282 Rulebook) to limit the double jumps that may be performed to double Salchow, double toe loop, and double loop. Neither a double flip nor double Lutz would be allowed."

So does that mean they may now do 3 doubles, or that they now can pick two of the allowed jumps (from toe loop, loop, salchow)?

Any insights?

See p. 18 of the Report of Action:
http://www.usfigureskating.org/Conte...ined%20ROA.pdf

There is also an amendment returning to the previous limit that "Only two different double jumps may be attempted."

So yeah, skaters can choose two of the three kinds of doubles that are allowed.

Just a note to point out that this is for the US only. In Canada the Preliminary Freeskate is still limited to one double jump, either the salchow or the toe.

It would be nice if Skate Canada and the USFSA could get together and have the same requirements then those who live near the border could compete in either country. We have a number of skaters who would go down to California to Golden Skate but there is no point as the requirements are not the same until you reach Novice.
