Woo-Hoo! Passed the test on the last possible day!

Hey all. Talk about down to the wire...

Today on Wednesday January 15th ...Adult Nationals Deadline Day...I passed my Novice Free Test! I skated almost completely clean except for the double-double combo (I did a double-single in the program), but I landed the double-double on the reskate. I had a killer warm up too, best I've ever had. I guess it was a good omen.

I managed to find a test session in Cleveland since the one that I was supposed to do last week in Chicago was cancelled. Another adult friend of mine was taking a test in Cleveland today too, so we shared a hotel and had lunch after the test. So I drove out (ugh, long drive) but it was obviously worth it to pass the test and see my friend.

So after the test I promptly went straight to the post office and sent in my form, postmarked the 15th, naturally!

So now I get to skate Junior at ANs, and I think I'll hang out in that catogory for some time, since I have to pass both Junior MIF and the Junior Free to move up. And it'll be a while before I do either (can't land a double flip yet)! But I'm 31 now, and my goal is to pass through Senior Free by the time I'm 35. I think I can do it, if my knees don't implode before then!

Congratulations! Well done.

Phew, that was close then!

I'd be so happy if I could do a double!

Oh, well done! That's wonderful news - I take it your entry for Adult Nationals is safely in the post?

Hey that's great! Especially satisfying when you go out of your way like that & everything works out.

Does this mean we're going to see you at the Gardens Ice House for South Atlantics this year?

Just out of curiosity, what double-double did you do, and what other elements did you have to do?

Novice requirements are:

2loop
2/2 combo, can be the same jump, like 2toe/2toe (I do 2sal/2loop)
2toe
2salchow
straight line footwork
layback (8 revs)
camel-change-camel (4-4)
combination spin requiring change of foot and change of position (5-5) (I did camel-sit-back sit)
