US Adult Nationals - results

Boredom hit me and I was searching for the 2001 US Adult Nationals held in Malborough, MASS. and along the line after a few helping hands got the information. Then I searched my USFSA magazines and got some other results

Shoot, that was at my rink and I am trying to remember. Chris Williams is coming to mind for Championship Masters.....I could be wrong. I might have the old issue of Skating with the results, I'll go look.

That was one FUN week, I loved hosting AN.

Chris can't skate at the Championship Masters level. He's at the Gold level. Perhaps it is Davin that you are thinking of?

Tim - fyi:

Champ Master Men winner - Davin Grindstaff
Champ Gold Men - Jeff Lubertazzi
Silver Men I - John Tie
Bronze Men I - Daniel Manor

Other than Davin, I don't know if any of the other guys are still competing.

John was also a multiple adult pair champion.
(AFAIK, he no longer competes or skates because of knee problems.)

Hi,
This will be the 13th AN. Most of the results are on the USFSA site. The other results can be found in the skating magazines and some on the host's sites. There was a nice celebration at the 10th AN, and at that time there were 18 of us who have been to all. I don't know what the count is now, but Dasies has done a great deal of work compiling AN history and information.

That's right! I visited AN in the USA in 1998, with a couple of other UK and a few Australian adult skaters, and we started campaigning quietly for our own Adult Championships. Then a couple of adult competitive dancers, also judges (they judged at this year's British Adults), were at the time on an Adult committee at NISA, and organised the first one at Swindon. Then it moved to Sheffield, I think, and was there for three years, and then Lee Valley last year.

We went to Overland Park, Ks in 2005 to watch, too. I suppose because the US ones last for several days and ours is just a weekend, but it does seem to be much more fun! Rather like the Mountain Cup is.....

Not this year - you'll have to come to the Mountain Cup and/or Oberstdorf!

Our numbers have since dwindled! I haven't officially researched this, but I *believe* that as of the last AN, we are down to 10 skaters who have competed at every AN.

Funny you posted this... last Thursday in the middle of my torture session, I asked "OMG!!! Is this what they're expecting at Bronze?!!?!" Jay said "HEY!! I was doing flying camels when I was competing at Bronze!!!"

(I'm NOT even gonna COMMENT about that online... I already let him know what I think of it at the rink... )

Jeff is coaching at my rink and while he does skate here and there for himself on occaision, he is no longer competing. However, he is seen as a sales rep for SPTeri at Senior Nationals and AN and does fit me for skates!!
