i cant find my loop...

i lost my loop... i could do a perfect waltz-loop in december and was even working on loop-loops but then one of my fav. coaches moved and my best skating friend switched rinks... and *POOF* it was gone... now i only have a cheated loop... i think my prob. could be the take off... the hard part is for me to keep my foot in front... Do you have ANY advice?

How's your back spin?
And have you tried to do back spin/loop--perhaps it's just your timing that is off?

Your loop must've ran off with mine.

I can pop out an INCREDIBLE loop every 10th try or so, but all of the others in between are two footed or really off balance. My rink is closed for a couple of days so I'm going to be practicing the jump off the ice.

I notice that my biggest problem is staying over the right hip. I let my body sneak over to the left a tiny bit and thats all she wrote. Make sure you're scooping your arms up and not letting the right shoulder drop.

My coach recently had me start going into my loop much faster than I usually do so I think thats the reason I've been struggling. Try slowing it down to get back the feel of it and then speed it up when you get it back. My coach is prepping me for a loop-loop combo - I just laughed at him.

Hope it comes back soon! (Both yours and mine!)

It's all in the right leg (for ccw jumper). Most of your balance should be over the right leg as you're gliding backward in preparation for the takeoff. The upper body should rise with the leg; don't move it independently of the lower body and don't drop the right shoulder. When you practice your single make sure your entire body is straight when it's lifted into the air. It'll make the double easier.

You are probably aligned incorrectly on takeoff and you are probably taking off too soon. Here's a technique checklist that might help:

Takeoff position: (Assuming you skate CCW):

- All of your weight is on your right foot.

- The middle of your chest is lined up over the spot where your knees come together (but with your head up and shoulders back).

- Your right knee is lined up over your right toe.

- Your left foot is on the ice in front of the right foot, trailing gently.

- Your left hand is extended so that it lines up with the middle of your chest.

- Your right arm is back.

- Now really sit down on the RBO edge and curl it, then spring up off your right toe and lift up a little with your left knee as you take off.

After takeoff:

- Keep your hips closed and everything aligned as it was on takeoff.

- Your left foot should stay right in front of your right shin.

- Do not turn your head or your upper body.

- Think about staying over your right toe in the air.

The rotation starts at your ankles, then moves up to your hips, and then your torso just follows automatically. It's common to try to turn your torso to the left, but you need to keep it turned almost a little to the right and just rotate from the bottom up, pulling yourself backward and around with your right heel and your right hip. You are backward from takeoff until after you land. Exact same rotation technique with the flip.
