skating again!!!!

Hi everyone!

Well, skating starts again tonight for the Fall/Winter Session at my club. I'm soooo happy! I've been off the ice since August 10th! It really isn't that long, but it feels like FOREVER! I'm hoping I haven't lost all my jumps/spins/etc. Wish me luck!

Good luck to everyone else going back this week. I'll post how I'm doing after the summer break...everyone else can feel free to post their "back to skating" stories as well!

We had club night last night-it was tons of fun! What truly amazes me is that the younger ones (which is mostly everyone) can take the whole summer off from skating, come back on the ice and pick up where they left off! Wow!

We were only going to stay an hour, but ended up staying the whole time! It was a blast! The ice was a bit harder and the rink a bit colder than normal, but since it is still in the 80's outside, the manager had everything cranked up full-speed...

I didn't really work on my waltz jump, but did some spins and just had fun talking with everyone and catching up on what they've been up to over the summer.

and the results are in...

So on Wednesday night I definitely wasn't my normal self. lol! I didn't feel too bad though because a couple of people had brand new boots and blades so I wasn't the only one struggling.

I got on the ice at 8:00pm and did more stroking and stretching than usual to get my feet under me and to avoid injury!! I preceeded to warm up my jumps (singles first, then EVENTUALLY doubles...) My first waltz jump was HORRIBLE I was leaning back too far on the take off, and therefore on the landing as well... My first salchow I landed, then actually caught my edge and fell!!! on a single sal!!!!! How horrible...

My last night (Thursday) My feet were back to normal. I've definitely lost some of the rhythm on my doubles (flip and toe mostly). My double sal, however, is better than it had been. It feels more consitant than it was. I need to completely re-work my axle...it just no where near what I'd like it to be. My double loop is pretty sad...so I'll be working on that too. For spins, my camel-change-camel needs help!!!!

That's all for now!
