I wasn't sure if there was already a thread on this, but Sandra Loosemoore's skateweb site has some great videos of past skaters for downloading. I love watching the videos from 1976 and earlier. The delayed axel is really a lost art, and the skaters of the past really know how to put the DELAYED into the delayed axel. Tenley Albright looked amazing doing marzukas, toe-split jumps and some really neat stuffs. Carol Heiss's trademark was a sequence of single axels, alternating cw and ccw rotations! Peggy Fleming also had a great delayed axel and a sequence of marzuka, 1.5 toe into 2toes, and her trademark spreadeagle-2axel-spreadeagle. I know a lot of adult skaters out there are only working on single jumps, but you can view the videos of these older skaters and see that they can turn a single jump, even a half jump, into something extraordinary. Enjoy! |
