fall competitions...what are people doing?

Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone has thought ahead into the fall. We're still up in the air about peach classic as summer schedules can be hectic. I'm trying to see if I can get an idea of what else is out there in the fall. Anyone doing challenge cup...is this and adult comp? how about pairs?

october....Aston...maybe ross knows dates on this one.

I remember there used to be a big one in deleware in november for adults.
anyone have any feedback?
Thanks!!!

Up in the air about Peach??? C'mon it's a blast, or so I've heard- I'll be there for the first time!
The Challenge Cup is not a adult competition, but has adult events, don't know about pairs though. But the Halloween Classic application is up on the Ice Works site.
After Peach, I may hold off on any competitions until Central Carolina Adult Classic (Easterns) in February. I need to get the tests passed that have been put off due to a family situation.

Skate San Francisco is in November and I am going to be in that competition. After that I won't be competing 'til Feb... Adult Sectionals is local to me this coming year. (It's in Oakland, CA... right across the bridge from SF...)

Right now I'm concentrating on the Bronze Moves test. I want this #$%&@* test out of the way ASAP so I can concentrate on my artistic program AND my FS test program!

I don't get local ice until September 6, so I won't have a coach until then. I will have until September 23 (application deadline) to decide if I will do the Halloween Classic at Aston, PA (pre-bronze).....or wait until next year and catch it as bronze (and take my pre-bronze some other time ).

It sucks not having closer ice & summer coaching (let alone spins, jumps, music, a routine, etc...) all I have is a dress!

DATES OF 2ND HALLOWEEN CLASSIC AT ASTON PA
5-6 NOVEMBER 2005

Definitely Peach. Then probably nothing else for me until Easterns, too. I will have a busy synchro season, plus, I have to pass my Gold moves, do SERIOUS work on Novice moves, and I am learning my dances, I hope to be into Bronze by the end of the year. WHERE I am gong to get all this practice time, I don't know!

The Halloween Classic will be held Nov. 5-6:
http://iceworkssc.org/HalloweenClass...assicPage.html

There's also the Buckeye Open in Cincinnati--this was held Nov. 6-7 last year, but I presume they'll change it so it doesn't overlap with the Halloween (?)

ok peach like kind of snuck up fast...summers get crazy, between work and weddings and family stuff...between getting a new program and making sure to recover from a season long torn quad last year not sure there is enough time, but it seems like its a good season opener. thanks for the links and other info...anyone else who has any info please post so we can all decide how to plan our travel schedule and budget. just get tired of skating "exhibition " after paying an entry fee...so maybe we can all keep each ofther updated so we actually have competitiors..any pairs up for the halloween classic?

Challenge Cup has adult events, but only FS, no pairs or interp. I'm doing Peach and then Aston...

I don't know exactly which events I'm doing yet, but these are the ones being considered:

Golden West~ Septmeber
Skate St. Moritz~ September
Skate San Francisco~ November

Of course, there will be tests and such in between, so any of these (other than Golden West) may go away at any time!

Here in the UK, the next competition is the Scottish Opens on 20 and 21 August, hotly followed by Bristol on 4 September (you lot will all be at Peach, so at least we'll have a competition to compare notes about. No nips, though.... I'll have to take a hip-flask!).

Then the British Adult Championships is 1 and 2 October, and Oxford Seniors (which is dance-only) in November. Which brings us nicely to the Dune of Flanders Cup in December, only it clashes with our local club Winter Festival, so we probably won't go to it.... we'll see, but our rink is warmer!

when I lived in MO, I started the season with ISI comps, then transitioned to USFSA for the end of season, with a nice mix in the middle. Now I have to figure out the ISI schedule here in MI.

That said, so far as I know, I'm doing ISI Adult Champs in Sept., then MO State Invitational, Wyandotte, Sectionals and Nationals.

I can tell you that David & I won't be skating Gold Pairs at Peach. We're still on our hiatus. ("It's a separation, not a divorce.") I'll be there doing interp & some throw-away events (compulsory moves, jumps, team) though.

For gold pairs, why don't you email Andrea and Alla and see if either of those teams will be competing? If you don't have their email addresses PM me.

I assume you meant me. ? Anyway, it's not a sad thing at all. We both have singles testing goals we wanted to work on, and there just wasn't enough time on the ice for everything, so after the New Years adult comp in Ashburn this year, we decided to take a little break from the pairs. The only comps we ever did pairs at anyway were Peach and New Years, so it's not like we're missing out on a lot of competitions. <Arnold Schwarzenegger voice>We'll be back.</Arnold Schwarzenegger voice> And ready for you & Jason to kick our butts!

Tell Jason thanks for the encouragement on our new program; it's coming together (at least the part that's been choreographed!). Hopefully we'll get it finished this week.

I hear you've been working hard lately, any new tricks to share?

Hi loops and all,
skaternum, I hear you . thats kind of where we struggled when we got back from mountain cup, summer schedule changes , we both wanted to upgrade our singles program, injury recovery, 11 months of 4:15 am wakeup calls catching up. there are only so many hours in a day and so many dollars in a paycheck...the undertaking of my singles program choreography is um...challenging and time consuming...(but fun this time!!!!! ..thanks John!)

ok loops wants the scoop...we had some great breakthroughs this weekend on throw double sal and throw double loop. we are using some newly learned techniques that are really helping, but a nagging hip and knee injury limits the number of tries per practice ..and usually cuts out the ability to do any throw flips at all. but we see light at the end of the tunnel finally. we are working hard on adding other death spirals to our repetoire so we can make a creative use of more than one position. side by side jumps we are doing double sals next year . don't know what else. trying not to beat my leg to death. we are still trying all kinds of spins both pairs and sbs...having fun experimenting. yes we all saw the internet pix on the camp...who really knows ...some of this could work and some of it may end up in the filing cabinit for another year..what about you and nova skater.?... can't wait to see the final product! and anyone else ...what are your goals for next season???aim high everyone...you never know.... please share your goals for next season with us so we know what to talk each other through on the board all year!!!

Why didn't any of you pairs do the VassilievTotmianina/Marinin seminar this past weekend in Chicago? I watched the whole thing (one of my freinds was participating and staying with me for the weekend, so I was chauffeur and photographer). It was an amazing seminar.

A lot of us did the pairs track at the Hackensack camp last month instead; for those of us in the mid-Atlantic/PA/NJ/NY corridor it was much easier to do an East Coast one instead.

How was the Hackensack one for pairs? Some of the pairs here were curious. I meant to ask Andrea, since she attended both.

As Manleywoman said - it was great!
Here's my thoughts (as posted on another thread).
And thanks for being the camp photographer!

Just back from the Pairs camp, and it was wonderful. Two days of pair skating. I've been to quite a few other camps, but this is the only one that I would return to next year. I really learned quite a bit and had a great time. Our instructors were Olympic champion Oleg Vasiliev and world champions Tatiana Totmianina and Maksim Marinin. They were wonderful teachers, and very approachable with all questions. The camp was limited to 10 pairs, and so we all got lots of help and attention. Manley woman was also there as our official photographer!

My partner (we call it our "blind skate" partner, as we first met when he picked me up at the airport) was great. Despite level differences we skated well together, trying everything. This was his first time doing many of the elements and he really caught on fast! We were quite happy that we managed a platter, press and even the begining of a platter-star. The throws felt very natural and we had a great time with the death spirals. I have to say that the highlight was doing a full out forward inside death spiral with Oleg. Worth the price of admission!
