Another padding question

I am finally going to spend the money to buy some padding, so I can just DO the jumps already and stop worrying about hurting myself.

I wish I could get the skating safe pads- because they are so highly recommended, but they are just too expensive for me.

I decided rather than individual pads, I would get a pair of compression shorts- with hip and tailbone pads. There are also compression capris available that have knee pads.

Here's my question- it's only slightly more expensive to get the knee pads- would you get them? I have fallen on my knees, and it's painful, but nothing like the tailbone is! My biggest worry is how short I am and that capris with kneepads will turn into pants with mid-calf pads.

Thanks for any input/advice!

These are the ones I'm looking at if anyone has any reviews/comments:

Hm, I have no experience with either of those types. I have these right now, but I used to use a cheaper version, made by Jerrys I believe.

I have to say, my own vanity lead me from the Jerry's shorts. The tailbone pad on these seems less, um, obvious?

I'm using compression shorts with the hip and tailbone pads, and I love them. For my knees, I'm using basic volleyball pads. Just fell on them today (caught my toepick--argh!) and it was like landing on a cloud.

Thanks for the recommendation. I did some more searching on the board, and some people mentioned the pants with knee pads tend to shift- and hurt your knee bend, so I think I'm going to go for the shorts. If I have too many knee falls, I might try the volleyball knee pads.

Honestly, I'm hoping I don't have too many falls, I just know I'm scared to jump because I'm WORRIED about the fall. I'm hoping this will help the worry go away- and that my teeny jumps might be encouraged to be bigger! My coach said my waltz jump should travel about 5x more up the ice!
