Hi,
I believe our team is back on again and has grown. We've added my former pairs partner (he was going up to watch), as well as my future booth mate.
Also, let me know if anyone would like me to put them on the ice. I'll be around for both days.

Bummer! Take care, so we can see you back on the ice soon!
I'm not going to HC this year- there's this thing called a Bronze moves test that is gotten all of my on ice attention lately.

Rink 2 (the Olympic rink). So when you enter the driveway, turn into the parking lot on the left, in front of the main entrance (although if you signed up for practice ice, it may not be on Rink 2 - we are using all 4 surfaces for practice ice). Registration will be in the main lobby outside of Rink 2.

There are signs in front of the building pointing out where each rink is located.

See you soon!

I spoke with Tim Convington at Skate America and said he was doing Gold Men. So does this mean, Tim Fisher & Tim Mizerak will be there?

Wow!

I didn't sign up for freestyle this time around. My program is still being choreographed. So I'm doing moves, the team event and spins. However, if a couple more silver guys would have signed up then this event would have hit double digits in terms of participants! That's awesome.

Best of luck!

Frank

Mine is still being choreographed as well! And Tim D. is still trying to decide his music (I think). So you should have signed up.
Last year, there were 7 silver men.

I did think about it but let's think this through fully. I showed up in Kansas City for AN this year with a program that was completely choreographed since mid-August and I was running through every single session at least once since January. Despite all of that, I still got a huge case of the nerves. If I showed up at Aston with a program that was only choreographed from the beginning to the one minute mark and had to make up the rest as I went along I'd probably have a coronary as I was standing at mid-ice waiting for my music to start.

I give you a lot of credit. If my memory serves me correctly, you told me you were re-chorographing your program at 1am the morning of our event at KC. I would never have the nerve to do that. Knowing me, I'd get all confused and spaz out.

Kudos also to Tim David for taking the Gary Beacom approach to skating.

Frank

Well, not completely rechoreographing the program. I don't trust myself enough: If something does not go right in a practice session, I will take the "safe" route and change a few moves or spins to minimize the risk. At AN, I was paranoid that my program just wasn't hitting the mark, so I listened to my program (via iPod) at said hour and changed the layout. As my stupid brain often works, in the warmup of our event, I reverted back to the original progam because the new layout was not working!

So here's to getting a program, practicing it many time and long before competing, and then just sticking to it! I've gotta stop second-guessing myself. And yeah, the impromptu thing really does not work in pairs!

Hahaha, thanks, Gary Beacom? Refresh me, I never paid attention to him when he was a pro, or even when he was an amatuer

Yes, I am still trying to figure out what to skate to this Sunday.
I will be going to Sky Rink this evening to figure things out.
I'm leaning on:
The Feeling Begins or Dark Eyes or Nutcracker
I'll decide on Saturday

Hey there,

Gary Beacom was famous for showing up at pro events and improvising entire programs. Usually the sportscasters would ask him to provide them with a list of elements so that they had an idea of what was coming up in the program during the broadcast and he would often hand in a sheet of paper with the following:

?

That's it.

However, he used to improvise every aspect of his programs from his jumps and spins to the choreography as well. Along the way he did some pretty amazing stuff but certainly I am not wired to follow in his footsteps.

Frank
