Yes yes yes yes yes. About a week before what was going to be my first competition in over a year, 2 levels higher than my last competition, I ended up in the hospital with critically low blood platelets and had to withdraw (couldn't skate, let alone jump, because of the bleeding risk). Then, 2 weeks before my Int moves test, my platelets dropped AGAIN and the prednisone they put me on to get my platelets up caused me to get massive viral AND bacterial infections.

Hope you're feeling better!

Mrs Redboots,

I'm so sorry to hear that you weren't fit enough to skate in the competition as planned. It must be really frustrating. I just hope that you'll be able to use the time between now and the next competition to get more finesse in your routine so you achieve an even higher score.

I'm only just back on the ice after a long absence due to a broken wrist but it seems I'm not the only one at Streatham to have this popular injury!

At least the lurgy, even a bad one, should only keep you off the ice for a short time, unlike a fracture. I hope you are fully recovered now and wish you the best of luck for the next competition

Sarah

No, indeed! Very good company you keep! Did you go to the competition, and if so, was it good?

Did skate yesterday, but feeling completely wiped out again today. Sigh.

I didn't make it to the competition, sorry, unless it was Guildford. I caught one day of action there - the Tuesday.

I'll be back on the ice tomorrow with newly repositioned blades to see how I get on. I hope you are well enough soon to skate without it taking it all out of you.

Sarah
