Hi, Evelina, and welcome. Which rink do you skate at in London? I'm at Streatham, but skate at Alexandra Palace once a month.

Hey there,

I skate in Alexandra Palace, its not as close to me as Queensway, but to be honest I don't like that rink and parking in Queensway is SO expensive! When do you usually come to AP?

For the Dance Club on the first Wednesday of each month.

I have only skated at Queens a couple of times, but I agree, it's not my favourite place to skate!

Well Im a newbie too, just joined today and yes I agree this is an excellent way to introduce ones self

How old are you?
31

Where are you from? Roughly?
Greater Manchester, UK

Been skating how long?
hmm, 23 years on and off (circling rink for leisure doing nothing much)
1 week in a serious capacity

How often do you go to the rink?
Twice a week, 2 hour sessions

Classes/lessons? On your own?
For the last two weeks out of a book, I start with a coach next Thursday

What are you currently working on?
Regaining confidence and basic skating (I had a head injury on the ice 4 weeks ago when I took my kids) Also trying to learn the snow plough stop which at the moment seems to cause me to lose balance. I am such a novice

What is completely mistifying/fascinating you right now?
Everything but in particular the snow plough

I can skate around in circles no problem but anything else is a new experience to me. I am so frustrated with my lack of skill and lack of understanding of how to do simple things. I cant wait to start with my coach next week and start with the Skate Uk program

I didn't know they had a dance club! I am there in the mornings usually, falling over on most of my sit spins at the moment!

How old are you?
Late 30s.

Where are you from? Roughly?
New Jersey

Been skating how long?
As a kid, on ponds and lakes. As an adult, group lessons since early 2006.

How often do you go to the rink?
Twice a week -- more often if I can dash out of work on Important Business. Snort.

Classes/lessons? On your own?
Starting private lessons in a week or two.

What are you currently working on?
You know how most rinks have an after-school "public session" that seems to draw nothing but very, very good teenagers taking lessons? I'm trying to avoid putting my fool self in the path of these kids.

What is completely mystifying/fascinating you right now?
Body. Will. Not. Turn. Clockwise. Blimey.

How old are you?
38

Where are you from? Roughly?
Seattle, WA

Been skating how long?
About 3 months.

How often do you go to the rink?
Two or three times a week, when possible. About 90 minutes a session.

Classes/lessons? On your own?
ISI Learn to Skate (Alpha). Goes too slow but you have to have graduated Beta at my rink before you can switch to privates.

What are you currently working on?
Forward Crossovers and any form of backwards skating. I just skate around backwards as much as I can so that I can get used to the balance, but can't really DO much yet. Forwards I have no problems.

What is completely mystifying/fascinating you right now?
Left. Leg. Will. Not. Cooperate. on backwards half swizzles.
