Hello from Villard-de-Lans

A very cold, snowy, Villard-de-Lans! But the sun has come out this evening, and we are hopeful it will warm up. Meanwhile, if you are coming to the Mountain Cup and haven't yet left - BRING WARM CLOTHES!!

Camp is going well, although I am definitely now in the Old and Slow group these days. But many of the exercises are eminently do-able, even by me (not all of them), and although I was really tired yesterday, today I feel surprisingly energised. Don't know why.

Lots of skatingforums folks here already - good to meet Pedonskates, who I'd not met before.

I do wish it was warmer, though... But I am sitting in the sun typing this, and am warm for the first time today, and I only have two layers on! I had five at one stage, I think....

Hope you get a chance to meet some of our "Canadian contingent" (http://www.skatecanada.ca/en/news_vi...07/may24_2.cfm) - I think a number of them were going to Mountain Cup as well as Oberstdorf - really nice people!

Thanks, guys.

Not quite as much fun as usual - although not bad at all - as the weather was so dreadful that we couldn't socialise as much as we usually do, and sitting in the rink was a matter of how many blankets you could scrounge!

Skating okay; the judges seemed to prefer dancers who were out of time, didn't know the steps, and couldn't keep together to us, but if that's what they like.... easy enough to give them, next time! Our free dance went really well; we were last, of course, but that was only to be expected in that company. We didn't skate it desperately well, either, but it was fun. Husband's free okay, and he was 2nd out of 3.

Won't detail what other people did - they can say if they want to, but I'll only miss someone out if I try.

Will be back and catching up properly next week; if I have access during the rest of the week I'll pop on again, but have not time to read eveyr post just now.

Is there anywhere on the internet that we can find out the results? I've been looking but no luck so far.

Just got back home from my first experience of the Mountain Cup. (Should be asleep but am writing this instead!). It was a lot of fun and I will be back next year. I skated in bronze ladies I and pre silver solo dance and was v happy with my 2 golds. The skating was great to watch although the rink was very very very cold. Really enjoyed watching all the gold and masters free skaters. And I feel inspired to try figures next year.

Weather didn't spoil my enjoyment at all - but it was v rainy indeed.

Well done everyone who skated. Was a great competition.

Oh and I have another set of protocol sheets to study!

Sorry I can't help with videos, but I do remember your program! It was lovely, well done

I competed prelim solo dance, which we thankfully had a very minimal audience for

And if you're not going to big yourself up, I will: many congratulations on your gold, you deserved it.

Like always, the Mountain Cup was a whole lot of fun again this year. If you haven't been to this competition yet, you're really missing out!
