Goofy skating photos

So dh hadn't ever seen me skate except on vid, and a couple of weeks ago he and dd took in a bit of a session. I was kind of self-conscious and a bit punchy from lack of sleep, so here are some pictures of me being dopey.

Others, please share your wacky images. I'm sure. . . well, I'm hopeful. . . I'm really, really hoping I'm not the only weirdo out there. . . .

Rusty:

It was Halloween when all sorts of crazy antics happen (like me in the picture above it).

To put it in context, here she is tending the front desk before taking to the ice...

My coach wouldn't be caught on film without her makeup, let alone in curlers!

OK, here's a coach with her makeup on... (again, Halloween antics in a college town)

I only have older pictures.

Didn't realize WHAT my trainer was talking about as far as not staring at the ice until I saw this picture of my doing a 3-turn entrance!

And here's a picture of my flip from when I was getting about 3/4th rotation on it and landing it really really really awkwardly!

Sessy, I like your kilt!

Bill, love the Halloween costumes (although I'm a little stumped as to what your costume is--help?) Last year I think our rink did a "wear a costume, get a discount" deal for the Halloween public skate. Hmm. . . .

Because I'm a professor, I have academic regalia ("cap and gown") for ceremonial occasions at the university. I wear it just a few times per year, and I decided to get a little more mileage from it.

The "hat" is an interoffice mailing envelope turned inside out and cut at the top to form peaks.

Halloween at Ohio University is the stuff of legend and of extreme foolishness. Do a Google search for "Halloween Ohio University" and you will find TONS of hits.

Oh great Ice wizard... we beseech thee to exorcize the ice snakes that lurk beneath our skates and quell the gravity waves that pull us towards their snarly teeth in their dens of doom!
Lyle
p.s. watch out for the giant flying frogs too!

It's not a costume, it's how I normally walk around. I'm a bit gothic/punk so I've got lots of stuff like that.
Which in itself is goofy. Because you know, people who go skating rarely wear heavy metal band-shirts or punk stuff, and it especially looks great when me, twice the size of the other girls in my group lessons, stands lined up between aforementioned girls, who all wear little white and pink princess ice skating dresses. I so want a picture of that one day.

The spells come in handy when pesky hockey skaters bother the figure skaters.

Cast a spell over their peanut butter sandwiches, and

POOF!

They turn into woodland creatures...

Ah, well, Bill, my husband is also saddled with the academic regalia, which he hates and hated having to shell out money for. I *had* been thinking "professor Dumbledore?" though. . . Dh says he gets meeting minutes (1) via e-mail (2) via interoffice mail and again (3) at the meeting. Just one of the oddities of academia. (Those poor trees. What a waste.) So I appreciate your interoffice mail crown. I'll have to suggest the cap/gown for Halloween for dh.

(Actually, Prof Dumbledore, could you cast a spell that magically makes our rink management give us LOTS and LOTS of ice, instead of giving it to the hockey players???)
