Taking a moment to brag a bit...

dd skated in a comp this weekend and took 3rd in her Artistic(out of 5) and 1st in her freeskate(out of 5)! To be perfectly honest, I was pleasantly surprised by dd's win yesterday! She did skate well, but I thought for sure that a couple of other girls skated a bit better then dd. Dd's camel was beautiful and she got in 5 rotations which was above the required 3 rotations... so I think that helped her out! Don't get me wrong, dd did a beautiful job and I was(and am!) very proud of her... but I definately was surprised! It was nice though, since she hasn't come in 1st for nearly a year. I am sure it was a good thing for her confidence too! She will be skating pre-pre in the fall and will be in a entirely different pond.

All in all, a very good weekend for us!

Thanks! I uploaded her artistic to youtube in case you want to take a peek(same user name). She did a pretty good job on that program too!

Congratulations to your daughter!

(okay, I have trouble keeping your kids straight. How old is this one - is she the younger one? Is she skating pre preliminary now?)

Congrats!
It does sound like she is ready to move up. A coach told me once when someone starts placing toward the top in fs programs, its time to move up.Then spend time not placing well, then start placing well then move up again. It does seem to work out like that sometimes

Thanks! Her coach is of the same mind set. This was her first time in this level. She's landed axels, tho not consistantly. We were going to try and have her up to non-test/pre-pre by this comp, but due to some personal issues we were unable to allow her adequate ice time to prepare for the move. Her spins and jumps needed some work before she moved up. They are getting there so hopefully by September, she will be good to go. We never go into a competition expecting a win... especially when moving up levels. She's actually only won 1st, 4 times in 2 years. Anyway... it will be a challenge for her to be in pre-pre, but that is what we want... a challenge!

Thank you! I think you have me confused with someone else. I have one daughter. She just turned 12. I do have 2 sons, but my daughter is my only figure skater.

No problem! I don't expect everyone to remember everything about the people who post here.

As for her dress... thanks! We borrowed that dress from her BFF since hers isn't finished yet. Dd is excited to move up to pre-pre! It'll be a good challenge for her.
