Noises in scratch spin entry

Hi, everyone--
I have a question about noises that I hear when I enter the scratch spin. I know if I hear scraping sounds, that's not good and it means my weight is too far forward. But sometimes I've been able to get rid of that sound--and I hear an edge "rip" on the BI edge, usually as I deepen the BI edge right before I step onto the FO edge. Is that kind of sound okay?

Yes, that sound is normal. You should hear a similar sound when stepping into the left forward outside edge, if you are giving your spin entry enough power, as well. Scratching noises just mean you're on the toepick, it has nothing to do with edges. It's not desirable to make toepick noise, mainly because it slows you down, but you'd be surprised how many elites spin on their toepicks anyways. It's not that huge of a deal, although it's good to try and fix it. I just wouldn't worry too much about it. Good luck!
