Music Ideas.....

i need to find some music that goes with a black, showgirl type of dress with neon orange, yellow, and green trim, that i previously used for a copacobana routine with my team... im hoping to do a spotlight with it in a little over a month so i need to find music fast... im looking for some kinda fast music (but not too fast) just right for a showgirl number...... any ideas???

hmm

There are a couple interesting pieces I can think of. Of course, I'd need to see the dress to be sure but anyway...

1. I can't do it alone (from the Chicago soundtrack but NOT one of the overused pieces) This song tells a story so choreography is promising. A friend of mine used it - it ROCKED!

2. My Drag - by Squirrel Zipper Nuts I believe...VERY cool piece. It's kind of "berlesque"-ish

GOOD LUCK!!

Rock around the clock, Bill Haley and the Comets - ie a 50's sound.

Maybe something from the "Crazy for You" (Gershwin) soundtrack? The Overture has a bunch of different selections you could piece together. I considered skating to it, but it's a bit too fast for me.

How about "Crazy little thing called love" by Queen?

re: Music Ideas.....

Hi!

If you want to do something vampy (or "whu-hoo"), there's (I might not have the names quite right) "Whatever Lola Wants Lola Gets" and "A Little This-a and a Little That-a with an Emphasis on the Latter" from, er, how can I put this... Da** Yankees (worse than "darned").
Or maybe "I want to be in America" or the music from the dance-party in "West Side Story."
If you want to be more dramatic, there's "Carmen".
Or if you want to do an instrumental piece, there's "Malaguena".
Or maybe a Harry Bellafonte song?
If you're looking for something more bluesy, maybe something like
Linda Ronstat's "Blue Bayou"?
Would "Hello Buenos Aires" from "Evita" be too fast?
Or if you're looking for something rarer and unusual, there's
a singer, Kirsti MacColl, who did a CD called "Tropical Brainstorm,"
which has some cool Latinesque numbers.
In any case, good luck and have fun!

While Linda got quite a lot of well deserved mileage from this song, iit WAS a cover. You might also consider the ORIGINAL version...

by Roy Orbison (who wrote it!) or one of his many other hits.

If you're looking for a 50's sound you could try songs by frankie lymon and the teenagers.
