Speaking of iPhones....
Which we were, in another thread (this is on-topic, I promise you!), my attention has been drawn to a rather splendid iPhone app, called Figure It, which claims:
"Figure It is the first training aid for figure skaters developed for the iPhone and iPod touch. Figure It allows you to build programs and track your progress. Figure It simulates the International Judging System (IJS) and provides element by element statistics so you can see what's working for you and what's not." I think I might wait until the dance version comes out, but I gather some people have already downloaded it (it's on a special offer of $9.99) and it might well prove invaluable to coaches, etc.

Cool, I've been waiting for something like this to come out. (altho at $9.99 it's a little pricey!)

So does it support BOTH IJS and 6.0 judging system. Also, does it support the adult skating WBP requirements?

Only IJS - but, if you stop and think about it, that's the most useful as judges nowadays are "thinking" IJS even if they aren't judging it (one told me recently that the hardest thing of all is to switch between them), and it's noticeable that programmes that have been optimised for IJS tend to score better than those that haven't been, even under the RJS.
As for the other - no, there aren't adult levels on it as yet, but I gather it's very much under development, so why not e-mail the developers and ask for those to be added in a future release? They sent me such a nice e-mail in reply to my query as to whether dance would be a separate release (no, but it will be added later) that I'm sure they'd be delighted to add adult requirements. Although you can just set the level to "Juvenile" and then add in the single jumps and level 1 steps and spins...

Actually, I don't think this app. would be much use if you are skating under 6.0, since the focus and methods of the two judging systems are completely different. I also expected that judges would be thinking in IJS terms these days even when judging 6.0, but when I asked several of them whether they found themselves counting features and levels on elements when judging 6.0, they said they didn't. It sounded like judging 6.0 was almost a vacation for them from having to do that, particularly those who are also IJS technical specialists. As for judges who aren't technical specialists, many of them wouldn't even know how to count levels on elements (since that is not their responsibility in IJS judging).
Question for those who have used the app: Does the app tell you which features you need to achieve each level of each type of element, or does it assume you already know?

I don't think it does - but I think the creators are probably open to feedback and suggestions from users!
