Okay, so whomever is locking threads without reason decided to lock my question about it without any answer. Please at least PM me (and then you can delete this post all you like then and I won't bug you with more public posts anymore since I'll know who to message). The standard moderator behavior seems to be to post in bold blue italics why a thread is closed when it is - but that doesn't seem to be happening and it's quite aggravating that this is happening now to even my simple inquiry (which I've still received no answer to).
