Coaches' Reference Links

I don't if its the right place to post. If its not, I'm sorry.

Here is my French figure skating site reference for coaches, skaters, but also for parents. It's in French, but I'm sure English people will find many interesting informations like:

- competition and event calendar
- (canadian and international) dance patterns
- isu last communications
- French link directory
- French skating discusions board.

The address : http://patinage-mag.com

------FRENCH PART - PARTIE EN FRANÇAIS------

Site d'information générale en français sur le patinage artistique qui contient beaucoup d'informations:

- Compétition et calendrier des évènements;
- Communiqués de l'ISU, PC, et FFSG
- Les tracés des danses
- Répertoire des liens francophones
- Forum de discussions francophone

Une adresse:

Positive Coaching Links

A few links to some sites about positive coaching. While some links relate to other sports (baseball, socceer, basketball, football), they still apply to coaching skating. Now who couldn't benefit from these...

Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA):
http://www.positivecoach.org/default.aspx

Positive Coaching:
http://www.positivecoaching.org/AboutUs.html

GoodCharacter.com:
http://www.goodcharacter.com/SPORTS/...ecoaching.html
Based somewhat off of the PCA guidelines, but still useful...

Kinzie's Closet

I don't know who created this webstore, but they have a TON of valuable information online that's more than just stuff for sale.

For example, here are all the USFSA Basic Skills and Standard-Track Freestyle, and ISI Structure elements, listed by test level.

This link has an awesome list of stretches for figure skaters, along with illustrations. It'd be great to post on a wall at the rink.

Today's find is a Google book scan of compulsory figures that I hadn't seen before. The illustrations are many pages in (> 45) but they're fascinating.

Could be a fun workshop for coaches and their students.

I've found that getting skaters to do warmups and off-ice is tricky because they run late, they forget, or they're just overscheduled.

Found these documents on the USFSA's site and thought I'd share them for coaches planning the new season:

Off-Ice: http://usfsa.org/content/Off-ice%20Training.pdf

Basic Strength and Conditioning: http://usfsa.org/content/2008%20Elit...inar%20S&C.pdf

Warmups: http://usfsa.org/content/Exercises.pdf

How to Dress: http://usfsa.org/content/BS-appropriate%20attire.pdf

Bridge Program Workout: http://usfsa.org/content/Workout%20Sheet.xls

Seasonal Planning Worksheet: http://usfsa.org/Content/Seasonal%20...20Template.xls
