Finally went to my first competition

I finally had my first competiton yesterday! It was really scary but I wasn't as nervous as I thought I would be and I got a bronze medal! Actually there were only three skaters in my group so I knew I would medal no matter how bad I did, but i'm not telling anyone that. However it was pretty close. A few things were kind of wobbly but I didn't fall. I was a little upset that I got last, but it was no big deal. I didn't expect to do great at my first competition. Also, i've only been skating for 9 months and the girl that got second had been skating for over two years and was quitting after this, so i guess she deserved it. It also made me soo tired! I was so exhausted this morning my mom let me stay home from school

Thanks for all your help with preparing!!!!

That is SO true! Just getting out there and doing your first competition makes you a winner. We all know how hard it is! Congratulations!!!

Major congrats are in order for you! I recently had my first competition, so I totally understand how nervewracking it is. I'm so glad you had a good experience!

...all the adrenaline, nervousness, and concentration that goes in to a competition leaves me completely drained and fatigued the next day too. I dunno why it is so... Congrats on a wonderful competition outcome!

Well done!! Not falling in your first competition is fantastic in my eyes - no matter what where you place. I'd love to compete one day. Maybe once I get out of group lessons, my parents'll fork out for a coach. Or I'll wait till I'm old enough to get a paper round (only a few months to go!!) .

Coming 3rd out of 3 is a lot better than coming 2nd out of 2 - when you show the grandchildren the photograph, no need to tell them there were only 3 skaters in it! Whereas 2nd out of 2, you have to explain why the bronze step is empty.

Congratulations!

And don't worry about being wobbly. One of the coaches at our rink will tell you, on the least provocation, that in his first ever competition he went out thinking he was the last word in skaters - and landed every single jump on his bottom! His second competition, nobody expected him to do any better, and he nailed the lot and won the class!

Congratulations. It doesn't matter that you came third of three. There could have been another three in that class for all you know and you could still have come third.

A big congrats to you, Luck!

I'm not good for very much the day after competition...so, I always set that day aside for resting...doing nothing...having a treat...that's about it...it's a nice feeling, though, the day after. Especially, if you were happy about your skate!

Enjoy!
