What I do is bring kleenex type tissues or paper towels with me to the rink. Wipe ice and water off the blades after use, then put on those water absorbing blade booties/socks on the blades. Once I get home, remove the blade booties and then give the blades a good wipe with a kleenex tissue.

Try not to put the blades on the carpet. Depending on what carpet it is, and depending on if the carpet contains grit and things, it can contribute towards dulling the blades.
