DD passed Juvenile MIF!

And so what does she do to me, sitting patiently in the stands, doing the correct mom thing, staying away from her during the test session, letting the coach hendle everything? Finally, after waiting and waiting, oh so patiently, she finally comes over and tells me "Well, one judge passed me." My stomach lurches in disbelief, because she had looked so good, good power and flow and lots of control... she kept me going for what I swear was 5 minutes before she finally said "Just kidding, Mom! I passed!" I was so upset I almost lost my lunch! Oh, I will get her back for that one. It will take time, but I will have my revenge. She even did it to her dance coach, who also totally fell for it, but got angry because she knew she should have passed and couldn't believe that the judges could have gotten it so wrong!

Didn't pass the stupid stupid Willow Waltz again (but she did pass the Ten Fox, go figure) but Juv MIF are DONE! And not only did she pass, but she got good marks - .2, .3, and .5 over passing and very nice comments.

Revenge is mine, sayeth the Lord, and also the Mom! and possibly dance coach - oooh that brings up all sorts of possibilities...

Awww, that was mean to leave you thinking she got a retest for more than an instant. Revenge is a dish best served cold anyway, lol.

Congrats!

Congrats to your DD--I'm guessing this was the Falmouth test session? I heard one of the judges was failing people right and left (and that one of the dance judge's nicknames was "The Killer". !!).

Yes, it was in Falmouth, where she only goes to dance with Rob because it is so far away from us and soooo expensive. She was really nervous for the StupidWillowWaltz (that's its new official name, all one word ) and she didn't skate it as well as she can, but still! To pass the Ten Fox, which is her weakest dance just didn't make sense...

The judges were failing people left and right - two other skaters from our club failed Novice and Junior moves for the 3 and 4th time!! So I thought her getting a retry was a possibility based on what had happened up to that point. I'm just glad it's over and we have another test session coming up in August so she can try the StupidWillowWaltz again...

On the other hand, it was quite an experience to see some of the gold dances being tested. I'd never had the opportunity before (hard to get that level of judging here in Maine) and they were very impressive. They make it look so easy and it is so so hard.

My DD tested her Bronze Dances in May. The judges were extremely tough and a bit crabby. The Bronze Dances were last in a evening test session. They were double panelling, but they did Preliminary and Pre-Bronze before Bronze. One of the 6 judges went home while they were doing the single panel tests. So it was 11:00 p.m., 11:15 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. before DD skated her tests.

She only passed the Hickory Hoedown and retried on Ten Fox and Willow Waltz. I could see she was off on the Willow though. Poor kid was soooo tired. Comments on the forms weren't even helpful, because the judges wanted to get the heck out of there. Her Dance coach is trying to set up another test session for her at the end of July.

Congrats, Mainemom. I just wanted to add that it as painful as it was for you, and although I agree with the whole revenge thing, it's nice that your dd was able to tease you like that after the stress of her test. It seems that she had a pretty good attitude or state of mind.

Geeze! That's funny because we have a judge out my way with a license plate that reads "RETRY." LOL! My skaters didn't believe this until they saw it firsthand in the parking lot. Now they're always on the lookout for Retry as they've come to call her.

I can't imagine a judge putting that on a license plate! I'm speechless.
I think I'd scratch from the test session if I saw that car in the parking lot, just to save everyone some time, lol.

CONGRATULATIONS on the Juv MIF! That's a hard one, and it's especially nice that she got high marks.
