Awww. . . thanks. . .
Now I'm supposed to put the double toe into my program but I still get spooked by the takeoff. My takeoff is perfect when I do the jump as a single, but if I know I'm going for a double, I have a habit of freezing as soon as I pick!

What can I say - some of these are really inspiring - especially Kateskates Willow waltz. (At this rate she won't be able to get her head through the rink doors!)

Wow - very very impressive. You skate very very nicely. I liked the programme a lot.

Thank you, Kate! And I enjoyed your Willow Waltz!
Do you only ice dance or do you do freestyle as well?

I do free as well as dance. I actually prefer free but sssshhh don't tell my dance teacher that. I haven't got any decent videos of me freeskating - just the odd short clip of the odd element. I will be filming my programme next week for my own reference as I have a competition so maybe I'll post it then.

I have clips of a couple of axels, double salchow, change foot sit spins etc. I'll try and find the links.....

If I could skate as well as that, Doubletoe I wouldn't care whether I was any good at editing.

Seriously, your skating looks excellent. It's not just the fact that all your elements in the vids. were perfectly executed, you have that - I dunno- certain quality that makes you look like a 'real' skater.

Did you start as a child or as an adult?

Sonic, you are so sweet! Two years after that video I posted, I still see videos of myself and see awkwardness. Toes need to be more pointed, transitions need to be smoother, back needs to stay arched. . . It never ends. . . LOL!
I started at 27 in group classes, which I took for 5 years, then I quit for 5 years. I came back 4-1/2 years ago and started getting serious, taking private lessons, testing and competing.

change foot sit spin

double salchow - underrotated and not too great but its all I have on film!

All taken a few months ago - we were just experimenting with the camera - it was the first time I'd used my little camera to make short video clips!

I know some of them are sideways - but I don't know how to flip the video clip!!!!!

WOW. I see so much improvement, just in your general carriage and line, from the first to the second program.

(Love The Princess Bride music! "I am not left-handed either!" Perhaps you should revisit the program and have a step sequence inspired by the Fire Swamp??)

Guys, these are all very inspiring. Thanks for sharing them.

Yes, PB is one of my favorite movies. . . I can quote it incessantly!
Thanks for the compliment, but I already look at that second program and cringe! This year I'm working on doing away with the stiff arms and mediocre crossovers (and I may even succeed in pointing my toes, LOL!).

Can you set the camera on the boards? That's what I do if I want to tape myself. It doesn't work too well for moves patterns, but I don't tape those as often.

This is my solo free dance from last year (no jumps allowed!! requirements are straightline footwork, 1 spin, twizzle sequence)....I hadn't looked at it in a long time! I still love that program.

I'm sometimes there with no one to tape me...I put my camera in the hockey box on a tripod. It helps...look through the viewfinder and see where it will tape and make sure your good stuff is in that area (do the bad stuff off-camera ). I'd be careful about putting it on the boards-people like to slide their hands along on it and I almost lost a camera that way. Maybe in the music area or just tape it down to the boards with duct tape....(if you won't get in trouble).

Right on. Camera on tripod in a hockey box on a very quiet day is excellent. Just have to remember to watch out for condensation inside the camera when you take the camera back outside into warmer air. The condensation could potentially hurt a camera...especially a digital one. Maybe a good idea is to put the camera in a zip lock bag immediately after using it, before taking the camera outside the rink. And then let the camera get back 'up' to temperature inside the sealed bag.
