Janet Lynn and Peggy Fleming. Not that I think I could ever be as graceful as they are, but hey, I can dream!
Debi Thomas was the first skater that I actually followed as a fan. I also scoped out Scott Hamilton. It was easier to be a skating fan back then because the TV coverage was so much better. I remember watching figure skating weekend after weekend. Of course, I didn't realize it wasn't live and I couldn't get real-time results over the internet.

Hmm. Where I live we only get to see skating when the Winter Olympics is on. I do recall living in England at the time John Curry won the Olympics, and we did try to go skating but the queue was around the block so it didn't happen. I held that desire subconsciously until a rink opened here in 1980. So I guess John Curry's win was the impetus to try skating.

Re: which ice skater inspired me?
Hi
Well, for me, it has gone to be Torvill and Dean. They are so good in their ice dancing moves, I so love their bolero. ![]() londonicechamp |
