New York Here We Come
hey everyone,
My hubby and i decided to fly into New York, since i'm having my Klingbeil boots looked at. We'll be there Sunday afternoon through Wed (we leave at noon Wed.). Anyone from that area? Got any sightseeing tips? We'll be in the Queens area. We are so excited -- never been there before! |

If you're game to go into Manhattan, the seasonal Bryant Park rink will be open during your visit - free skating! On Monday (10/30) at 1:30pm, there's a free skating show with Michael Weiss and Kyoko Ino/John Zimmerman at that rink.
Rockefeller Center's rink isn't too crowded yet - it's still early in the season. Plan to go during the day though, because the evening sessions are crowded with tourists. This is a link for kids' activities, but it'll give you a calendar of events across the City. http://www.gocitykids.com/calendar/?area=197 Finally, since you're here on Halloween, you really should experience the Village Parade. http://www.halloween-nyc.com/index.php This year's theme is "The Village Hearth"

Sky Rink at Chelsea Piers is right off the entire Chelsea Gallery district.
Always a great treat to pop into some galleries, see some really good contemporary art, have something to eat at the Empire Diner (their Chili Sundea is really good!) Then head to Sky Rink to see who's skating. This entire area is between 14th and around 28th, and around 8th Ave. heading west to the Piers. |
