A question about Partners lifting each other

Say,I have a question about when Partners lift each other in Skating. We know it takes pratice. But when they lift, why does the guy stay up on his skates balanced, rather then slip back from the wieght on him from lifting? Anyone have an answer? Thanks.

The lady and the man work together to make sure the weight is balanced, on the way up, in the air and on the way down. This is why good positions and strength are really important for both partners. If the weight shifts, they can compensate a bit. If there is too much of a shift, the balance will be lost.
