I'm almost there on the sit spin. My coach says I just have to get my butt down a bit more. Here's my problem if I think about pushing my butt down then I roll back on the blade, because I shift too much weight there (and believe me I've got plenty of caboose there

Think about pushing your hands out more and making sure you really feel the front of your boot against your ankle-that helps me a lot (I also rock back onto my heel).

Think about bending at the ankle and pushing your knee forward - this will get you low and off your heel.
Also make sure you swing your right free leg around with the hip open, so that you lead with your heel. It's easier to bend forward with your right hip open. Arch your lower back. I was able to learn how to do a proper 90 degree low sitspin in my 40's (total adult onset skater). Good quads help. Last edited by sexyskates; 10-02-2009 at 09:12 PM. |

No help whatsoever but sit spins are usually funny for both me and my coach because she'll usually shout at me to go lower and i'll shout back "how the hell am i supposed to get back up if i go any lower"! Otherwise it's the only partly joking "but my belly's in the way i can't get down any lower unless i lose some weight"!
