Newbie to this forum!

Hi all, I am quite new to this forum-never posted before but read quite alot which seems to be very helpful!
Im in the U.K and have skated for the past ten years though I wasnt able to do so much during my last year at high school due to exams but still kept it going occasionally!
Now though im back in to full training and hoping to start competing again soon (i will be 21 next february so would like to start doing adult competitions as I have heard through others that competitors are much more supportave of each other)
Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself and hopefully use this forum alot to help myself and you lot out there too!!

Bye for now
Belle

Welcome to the board! Always good to see new people. It's especially great to see more people becoming involved in adult skating! And more people with years of experience to offer occaisional advice is really helpful.

Would you be so kind as to tell us about what you can do on the ice?

Hi and welcome. Having done it 10 years makes me think you must be really good.
Next year I'll be 21 also, in April though. So if I compete I'd be in the Adult category too? I first started ice skating about 5 years ago, but have done it more dedicated for 3 yrs. The most advanced moves I do are flip jumps & back spirals. I haven't been able to afford more practice, that's why I progress slower.

Hi Belle, and welcome. Whereabouts do you skate in the UK? I'm from the UK too so I may well meet you at one of the adult competitions at some stage.

Hi Belle

Welcome, I'm also from the UK, yes I think the adult opens are much more friendly and we all seam to support each other which is great as most of us dont have our mums and dads there.

Here is the address for the British Adult Championships at Sheffield this year, just click on the address, hope you can come, if so we look forward to meeting you there.

I, too, am from the UK - whereabouts do you skate? And yes, adult competitions are great fun, I'm sure you'll enjoy them. You can even do internationals! There are several in Europe in the summer, and one in Dunkerque just before Christmas (in the coldest rink in the universe, You Have Been Warned!).

If you PM me with your e-mail address, I'll ask the various organisers to put you on the mailing list for next year.

Hi again, its really nice to get such a good reply from everyone!
Just now Im skating at Paisley in Scotland though not a member of club since I havent competed or sat tests for few years.
The last test I sat was all my bronze and inter silver field moves but since its all changed a few years ago I think that makes me about level 6 gold?
Im hopefully going to do level 7 tests sometime soon?
Over the past few years most of my doubles have come and gone but I got new blades two months ago which seems to have helped me get all my edges back!!
I would be really interested in competing in adult competitions next year as when I was younger I was never very good at hiding my nerves but as Iv got older I am skating because I love it which means my nerves have kind of dissappeared!
Thanks for all the offers of help and hopefully meet some of you soon!
If anyone needs any hints I always try to help!

Belle

Which country are you in? There were skaters from at least 12 countries at the last Mountain Cup and the new ISU competition in Germany!
