New ISU document: Levels of Difficulty of Single & Pair Elements 2006-07

http://tinyurl.com/evpfd

Yay, the first steps have been taken by ISU to curtail the Biellmann:

"Remark: Bielmann [sic] positions count as a feature that can increase the Level only in one spin in the Short Program and in two spins in Free Skating. While doing that, the first spin(s) is (are) taken into account."

For spins, here's the rule for levels:
"Number of features for Levels: 2 for Level 2, 3 for Level 3, 4 for Level 4"

Interestingly, for the spin combo with change of foot (CCoSp), they've clarified the rule for getting credit for the change of edge:
4) On both edges in one position (on both feet counts twice)

(I guess some skaters had been getting credit for the COE by stepping/landing directly onto the inside edge for the back spin or outside edge for the forward spin without switchgin from the alternate edge?)

SO glad to see them curtailing the bielmanns... Its just gotten unappealing watching so many skaters bielmanning themselves to death.

As Terry Gannon said to Uncle Dick: "Oh, look! There's your favorite spiral again!!!" (This was after Uncle Dick was complaining about all the ladies doing Bielmann spirals at either US Nationals or the Olympics.)

There will still be 8 million Biellmann spirals, though. There's nothing in the document to curtain those.
