This is for Friday.

Ticket Ice 2 pm to 3:10 pm

Competitive
Was able to do some jumps clean with some height; waltz, toe and salchow.
Made some progress on flip jump. Was able to get terrific height and proper pick in but you'll see in compost the rest.
Forward spins getting cleaner edge along with 5 to 6 revs.
Backspin, half the time I'm getting into this right from the forward 3 and able to go at least 1 and 1/2 revs and exit on my right foot instead of changing to my left foot to do a forward spin before exiting.
spiral position starting to look half way decent. OK I'm comparing myself to the elite skaters. LOL What a difference arm and shoulders make in spirals!

Compost
Flip jumps were still under rotated because, I seem to forget to use my arms or use them at the wrong time. Plus I'm landing them on two feet but if I weren't I'd be killing myself or constantly falling. Need help from my coach to get the timing down for this jump. Haven't done the flip in lessons yet.

Club Ice 5 pm to 6 pm (note all times EST)

Competitive

Was able to do the changes my choreographer did to my interpretive program in the lesson. Plus, I out spun my choreographer. He claims he can't spin because his two bottom picks were shaved off his blades. Yeah, right. I did every spin he wanted me to do better than him with 2 times the revolutions as him and faster too.

Weird

Choreographer has me starting my interpretive with a RFO stroke and then straight into a LFO edge for a waltz jump. No RBO edge prep for the jump. It's weird. Also I have to do a toe loop with the waltz jump. It's hard to get the right feel for the take-off from the forward approach but the choreographer says I'll get more marks for showing my ability to balance from this take-off.

Compost

Backspin was kaput again. I think it was because I over did it with the hours I did at work on my feet and my right knee and foot were extrememly sore. Tendonitis was acting up.

Same with loop. My loop was not getting up or around either. My leg was over worked and under paid. LOL
I had to cool it with the flip.

My RFO3's, LFI3's and LFI op Mo need mega work. I'm very shaky on these. Reason, old clubs and coaches didn't force me to do these. My new club and coaches are forcing me to do these now. They just feel so unnatural. ONe thing is weird though. Why is it that I can do the RFO3 when I go from a RBI3 to a RFO3 as a double 3? One thing I found is that when trying to do the RFO3, I was swinging my freeleg away from the skating leg and my arms were wild. Now I get what I'm suppose to do and need to get use to the feeling of doing them.

Well, we are back! The 2nd British Adult Championship was a great success, with 100 skaters of all ages from 18 to 80 - almost literally - taking part.

Robert and I skated better than we've ever managed before in competition; unfortunately a couple of silly mistakes kept our scores down a bit, but we were dead pleased with how we skated. But, sadly, the music for our Tango, having played perfectly yesterday, simply didn't want to play at all, and came over all crackly and barely audible. We managed, though. And are now, for the second year running, Silver medallists (alas, only by default!).

Batikat skated well - I didn't see her compulsory dances, but I loved her Original Dance. She, and the other skaters from her rink, had interpreted "March" to mean a military march, as had several others, and she was a very cheeky soldier-boy! And finished a well-deserved 3rd place in her class.

Competitive:
Practiced for this coming Saturday's test. Ran through all elements in a mini-program. I've adjusted my mini-program to suite my strenghts -- meaning I'm doing pivots both directions immediately into arabesques extending into sprials. With pretty arms, of course! Only one pivot is required and they don't have to go into the arabesque/spiral, but I can get enought momentum out of the pivot to glide immediately into the arabesque, so why not? Then the edges. BO edges really stink, but my BIs actually ripped when I did them. Surprised the heck out of me and got compliments from all in the class, including the instructor. Then 1/2 flip (or 1/2 flip step in my case) and waltz jump (waltz step) and finishing with 2-foot spin. I may also add a pose at the end because I like pretty, LOL!

Compost:
BO edges, 1/2 flip and waltz jump. As always. I'm sensing that I may get another "gimme" pass, though I surely wouldn't mind repeating this level. The biggest benefit of passing out of this class is the next one should be smaller -- I think that maybe two others (both adults) would possibly pass up. It sure would be nice to be in a class smaller than 8!!

I HAD A LESSON!!!!!!!!!! WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

I've only had one in the last 6 months, so that was great! It was a dance lesson but I didn't actually do any of the dances. The lesson was spent on working on basics, technique, flow etc. My coach was very good technically and really made sense about things. I've got lots to practice too. Woohoo!!

I also now have a freestyle lesson booked for Friday! Yippee!!
