Eastern Sectionals Bulletin Board *SPOILERS*

Anyone know the schedule yet for sectionals? The website says it will be up on Feb. 15th, but I don't see it. I really need to make my travel arrangements and get off of work and stuff. Thanks!

I was told yesterday it should be up late tonight or tomorrow.

Also, there's something on the website about pre-ordering clothes, and that a limited amount of clothes will be sold at the actual comp. Pre-ordering is the way to go.

Hmmm so I'm assuming since I just got this email that the pre order deadline of 2/16 has been extended?

I did get an e-mail yesterday listing all the competitors. If someone needs that list, PM me and I'll send it along.

Really? The link works for me.

Yup, I am silver ladies I and Silver compulsory moves. And I am SO nervous now, I've never competed in these big of groups EVER. Even at Nationals, my group was 6 people.

I'm hitting panic mode right now, as I can't get the schedule- the link is definitely not working for me. Also, my dress is still in the design phase! And, I haven't run my program through with the music since HC! AAAAHHHH! And, Silver I is a HUGE group! I just don't want to come in last!

Have you tried refreshing your browser or clearing the cache? Maybe it's showing old info because the browser is "seeing" an old version?

ETA: If you're looking for info on Silver I FS, it's listed on the schedule as Sunday, Rink 1, 10:05 to 10:35 a.m.

Good idea about the browser, Mika. Sorry, badaxel, I should have posted when Silver I was for you! Don't worry, I am in panic mode too! We do this for fun, remember.....

Thanks guys! I used a different browser and it worked! I was worried when you posted before, Stormy, that our group was at 8 am Saturday. I didn't know how I was going to get there by then from NYC! I feel much, much better knowing that it's really at 10 am on Sunday. Thanks for the advice. I'll try to remember that this is for FUN!

Eeeew! That's far too early. At least our freestyle event is later ... a little. Too bad my dance event was cancelled.

Practice Ice:

On the schedule it says "Practice Ice will be posted here soon," but even if they get it up in the next few days, does this mean we are going to have to purchase it when we get up there???

It's interesting that the Pacific Sect., which is happening the same time as Easterns, as well as the Mid West Sectionals, which is happening on the 17th both had their schedules and practice ice applications up for sometime now.

What's going on with Easterns??? Anyone know what type of problems the LOC is having with this event???

I don't think they're having problems. The referee just took longer with the schedule than normal. Colonial puts on many competitions including national events and they know how to do it right. One of the co chairs reminded me the other day that like all of us, she, the cheif ref and the organizers have "real" jobs, families and kids. I wanted the schedule as much as the next person, but try to keep that in mind too.

Yes, I'm sure the late deadline must have pushed everything back a bit.

Stormy, can you tell us if there are other rinks in the vacinity where we might be able to practice? The last I corresponded with one of the LOC co-chairs, I was informed that there won't be any "Pairs Only" practice sessions. I contacted some people at the USFS to see if the Pairs Teams could be given "Pairs Practice" sessions, since it is a USFS sanctioned event. Just in case they will not give us Pairs Practice sessions, are there any other rinks in the area where the pair teams can practice?

Thanks for you help.

About 15 minutes away from Colonial is the New England Sports Center, they have 5 surfaces and freestyles all day long during the week. They will NOT have pairs only sessions, but in the mornings their sessions are very light. I think they still have 2 Saturday morning FS sessions, but those are much more crowded with littler kids, I wouldn't reccomend that on Saturday morning. NESC is a big and nice rink, I will likely be there practicing that weekend myself. That is the closest rink to Colonial. They had AN in 2001

The Skating Club of Boston may have FS and possibly pairs sessions during the day. That's not near Colonial, but it is a possibility.

I am surprised there aren't any pairs only practice sessions, especially with Championship Pairs!! I do hope the LOC is able to accomodate you!

it is dangerous for single skaters to practice with pairs on a crowded session, yes also dance, bc the patterns is way different. thankfully i have paid extra attention to my surroundings, or else somebody's platter lift would have landed on my face

Thanks, Stormy! I didn't realize that the New England Sports Center was that close to Colonial. Since the practice ice schedule is not out, yet, and I was told that there will not be "pairs only" practice sessions, I think that I can assume that all of the practice ice for E. Sect. will be pretty full with dancers and freeskaters. So, a really early morning or late evening at NESC would be ideal for us. However, it would also be good for us to get on the competition rink at least once, because I've heard from a lot of people, including coaches, that the Colonial rinks are very small, and that a lot of the standard track kids who competed there at their Sectionals were complaining about this ice size, I've heard a lot of adult saying that it is very small, too. This may be okay for freeskaters (I don't know), but it creates and enormous problem for Adult Pair teams, and I'm sure will be a challenge for dancers who train on NHL or Olympic, in terms of their pattern size. I wonder why the USFS would allow a sanctioned competition on anything smaller than NHL. Does anyone know if this happens often?

Tim,

Thanks for mentioning this from the vantage point of a freeskater. The best situation that Pair teams can have is, of course, "Pairs Only" sessions, which are rare during most of the year, but usually provided for practice ice at USFS sanctioned events. The next best thing for Pair Teams is to be on the ice with a few freeskaters (not little kids without control.) And the worse case scanario for us is to be on the ice with dancers, since they are uable to abort their patterns. If you have two or more dancers on the ice, pair teams can forget about using the lift lane, and yes, then it does become somewhat dangerous for everyone on the ice. I wrote to the LOC of E. Nationals a while ago just requesting that the Pairs not be scheduled with the dancers for practice ice if at all possible, and basically I was told to go jump off a bridge. That's when I learned there wasn't going to be pairs only practice ice at E. Sect. So, I wrote to the USFS for assistance with this. In the event that we show up and there is not pairs practice ice, I wanted to see if there are any other rinks in the area--So, THANK YOU STORMY! Very much appreciated for suggesting NESC.

And, thanks again, Tim for pointing out that this is about "safety" for everyone, and not about Pairs just wanting their own session.

Early morning at NESC will be your best best. I believe (I'll have to check their schedules), that their freestyles end at 6 PM, and anything after 1 PM has a lot of kids on it, or more kids than would be safe for you to be on it. That's how it was when I was skating there regularly. If you're looking for an evening FS session.....honestly, I am not sure if there's anything around. I'll check.

Oh, ETS: The list of competitors that I was e-mailed didn't have the Chmpionship events on there. Does anyone have THAT list? I'm dying to see who all these Gold and MAsters skaters are!!!

Wondering if there will be a practice session on Sunday morning (6:00 to 7:30) before the start of events at 8:00am.

Which rink is the one without the glass? Rink A or B?

+ is it ok to post the roster?

Ok, there's no Rink A or B at Colonial. The rink with no glass is Rink 3.

Founds out today I have to work both Friday and Saturday night, all night.

I was hoping to meet up with some of the competitors and spectators who go to Lake Placid in the summer...

I hate my life............
