NE Rinks

Does anyone know any rinks with freestyle/dance ice near:
Middlebury, VT (July 31 all day, August 1 morning)
Brunswick, ME (near Bowdoin)
Hartford, CT
Providence, RI?
I'm doing college visits and don't want to miss the entire week skating. Brunswick, Hartford, and Providence I'm not sure of the dates but all would be weekdays (Hartford or Providence may be a Saturday as well).

I'd go with Simsbury for Hartford- they have the most sessions, as far as I know. Plus the ice is great. For providence, there's an outdoor rink that's only open in the winter, and it'd ruin your blades anyways. You might have to go to the Skating Club of Boston, in, well, Boston. You'll have to check out their ice times though because many sessions are club members only. I know Maine hosted Regionals last year (or at least, I'm pretty sure) so there must at least be one good rink. Go to frogsonice.com/skateweb and check out "U.S. Rinks", they are listed by state, and have links to websites. Good luck.

There are a couple of rinks in and near Providence -- I don't have the URLs but you should be able to get some information through the skateweb site as stardust suggested. There is lots of dance everywhere in the area and also Massachusetts -- the Skating Club of Boston has a public ice dance session I believe on thursday evening -- you can go as a walk-on -- it is about an hour N of Providence. Also in the summer they might have another dance session on Saturday or Sunday afternoon.

New England Regionals were in Maine last year, at the Family Ice Center in Falmouth, which is about 25 minutes from Brunswick (according to MapQuest). http://www.familyice.org/

when i travel on business i usually check mapquest for a list of skating rinks, and this way you can lsit them by distance. it will provide phone number etc. on the list. then i just call them and see what is available. i just came back from a weekend in rhode island and there was not much weeknd ice. i would agree that ct is your best bet. good luck!

RI Skating

Warwick, RI, Pawtucket, RI and Smithfield, RI definitely have weekday ice during the summer. You'd have to call Smithfield for the schedule as they do not have a website. Not sure about Smithfield, but Warwick & Pawt. do not have Saturday ice in the summer.

If you go to USFS website, look under "clubs" you'll find the websites for Warwick & Pawtucket.

Good luck. What schools are you looking at in RI?

Thanks for the help. I'm visitng Brown, Dartmouth, Middlebury, Wesleyan, Bowdoin, and Trinity for those curious.

New problem: I'd like to skate Sunday on our way up or Monday midday. We're driving from Pittsburgh to Vermont Sunday and from Vermont to Hanover, NH Monday. I tried skateweb, and had a terrible time trying to find any ice. I know no one around here has Sunday ice, but does anyone know of any? Or any midday ice (after 11AM) Monday ice?

Check lthe links to club websites at the New England Interclub Council webiste: www.neicc.org

Most of the New England area clubs are linked through there.
