I made it back on the ice!

I made it back on the ice today for the first time since falling and breaking my wrist three weeks ago. To be honest I didn't expect to skate in a cast. It's not something I ever thought I'd do and when one of my coach's little skaters broke her arm in the summer, my coach wasn't keen to coach her. However she seems really keen to get me back on the ice and doing basic stuff just to get my confidence back, so today I had a lesson. I only stayed on the ice for half an hour and was somewhat scared at first in case I fell again. However although it all felt very strange, I got on just fine. Having a cast on keeps people out of my way too - it could be quite a useful weapon should they dare get in my way!

Unfortunately I won't be going. There's no way I'd get through my programme and jumping feels a little while off yet. I had intended to go along and support you all and watch, but some difficulties with arrangements have prevented me from doing so.

Oh, that's a pity! I would have liked to have seen you again.

However, Husband tells me that next year's Streatham Open Festival is to be in February (exact date to be announced later) because of difficulties getting the ice in April, so I hope we'll see you there! Plus Samba, Sceptique, Batikat, and the rest of the gang.... I'll let you know the exact date as soon as it's finalised.

That'll actually be good for me. You know I feel I have nothing to work for when I get back to it properly. By the time I'm back we'll be working towards the Christmas Show, then I'll have Streatham to have as a target. I really wanted to make the British and see you all again but I'm afraid it just can't be helped. Some things happen beyond your control
