Mid-way through my program I got so tired going into my 2-loop I decided to purposely fall (sort of in slow motion) so that I could just lay on the ice and rest for a bit, sort of catch my breath:]

Ok, maybe this is only funny to me but I just felt like sharing...

Good luck all Eastern's Competitors and I'll see you there!
I think that is hilarious...I read it to my daughter and she says "Don't you dare let that give you any ideas!"

I think said skater got in the way of our *split* twist. She must be attracted to those types of moves!

We're here! Just came back to the Holiday Inn from the Nashoba rink. Nothing posted about the Adult competition other than a notice cancelling the "Learn-to-Skate" class on Sat., because of our competition. Other than that no posting at all about practice ice for Friday.

I recall hearing that a similar thing happened to a club that hosted AN in California, and I don't think we'll be seeing AN back in Dallas anytime soon either.
I don't know about future ANs at Dallas, but I do know the California club you are referring to is still welcome to submit bids for AN, as long as the things that did not work in 1998 are not repeated.

And that should not be a problem, since the third ice surface -- which was used in 1998 for figures competition and many practice sessions and was the source of many complaints -- is Jazzpants' weekend rink -- which is closing.

Okay, Nova...we're going to the rink early this morning to do some screaming to pave the way...only kidding, but we are going in very early to see if we can open up those three empty Rink1 sessions for all of us!

Report:

Oh, by the way, there is NO hot water at the Holiday Inn. The last time we didn't have hot water in a hotel, we were in Azerbajan!

Very bad weather...it is sleating/raining right now, and we just learned that 495 is very backed up coming up towards Boxborough, and is completly closed above Boxborough, because a tractor trailer truck turned over.

Hot water is back on!

Weather is currently rainy and windy but the snow and ice that folks north of Route 495 (where Colonial's rink is located) woke up to this morning is supposed to be gone by noon if it isn't already. So travel should be okay. And tomorrow and Sunday are supposed to be great weatherwise.

I want to second the "contact the LOC" advice. Last night I got home to several messages on my phone asking about the "Open ice" that Worcester supposedly has this weekend, because apparently somebody somewhere told them about it. That's not to mention the e-mails and PMs I've gotten. One person is even laboring under the misapprehension that Colonial has contracted practice ice with other rinks - they haven't, as far as I know, and they definitely have nothing to do with Worcester's ice. Even contacting me is a mistake - I have nothing to do with AN and if you got my number out of the USFS Directory, it's severely out of date as I haven't been listed as contact person there for several years.

Besides, asking one person one question is fine. It's when one person asks 15 questions of one person that it gets annoying. The last week before any competition is stressful enough for the LOC, as well as for the skaters. Think of this: the skaters are concerned mainly about themselves and their schedules; The LOC (and mainly the chair) is concerned with the schedules of ALL the skaters, the judges, the volunteers, the rink staff, etc. There's no way they can make everyone happy; they're just doing the best that they can for the majority.

Good luck, everybody, skate your best and please, try to have fun! That's what it's all about, at the end of the day.....

Don't forget the old saying I learnt at my mother's knee (creaky old woman mode): You can please all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time!

"GO (insert name) SKATE GREAT! WE LOVE YOU. SMILE!"

(drawn out slowly and prounounced "SMIIIII--YULLLLL!"

After a flight delay this morning (from the ice in Boston and their only having one runway open), made it here in time to skate some of the Colonial FSC sessions on the competition rink. Have already seen quite a number of competitors -- can't wait to skate tomorrow and get this over with already!

Not sure if this is the place to post, but I attended eastern adult sectionals today. I saw ladies pre-bronze freestyle (classes I - V) and championship ladies gold. Congratulations and thank you for the inspiration! I am determined more than ever to get my pre-bronze moves & freestyle.

Glad you had a good time, Tessie. Do you happen to know/remember anything about the Champ Gold Ladies results?

If not, no worries - hopefully, NoVa (or lovepairs) will report tonight or tomorrow. In the past, results have usually come up on the USFSA website that same night, but nothing yet.

I figured 'We do it for the Standard Track events, why not for the adults?'
With that in mind, I went ahead and set up SPOILER threads for results from this weekend's competitions.

Please keep us informed - GOOD LUCK ALL!

ETA: Merged threads together since no one objected to spoilers and congratulations!
