My home rink: $12/walk-in, $10/punch card of 10.
My weekend rink: $10/walk-in, $7.50/punch card of 10.

How I save... (for my home rink) $6.50/punch card of 10 for public session...and I go into the middel of the day. MUCH less crowded and better ice!!! But of course, you'll have to work it out w/your boss... and some bosses just aren't understanding about AOSS!!! (But now that I'm unemployed, that's what I'm doing now. It's really nice!!!)

Aww, well at least you're having fun. I hope you find a cool night-time job that starts half an hour after the end of the daytime public session, and is within walking distance of the rink to boot. (And then you can get me a job there too) Best wishes in your job hunting.

60 dollars an hour is an excellent price for a coach, although I guess it depends on their credentials. I pay 120 bucks an hour for my coach, so um yeah, 60 bucks an hour would be pretty good. Usually the coaches that charge that much are apprentices and younger people who are just starting out, so if you have some good, qualified coaches at those prices, HANG ONTO THEM!!!

But yeah you're getting screwed in the freestyle costs...I'd get everyone to mention extending the freestyle times to 45 minutes for the prices you're paying, at the least. And either way, the rink is definitely lying to you by saying they're doing you any favors with prices and stuff. I would laugh out loud if I heard that from a rink that charges by the half hour. They definitely don't own you with their "bargains".

I wish I had you around to criticize and laugh at all the various people in my life who have conned me out of money or overcharged me for something or sold me something I don't really need - I'd be a wealthier man today to show for it.

Don't think of it that way. Do you think how much your gas costs you a year? (I have an SUV--it would definately be a if I tried to add it up) I look at my $22 lesson and my ice time costs as my reward for working 40+ hours a week. And everybody who knows me knows not to mess with my skate time--it's pretty much set in stone.

I'm signed up for 5 hours/week for 22 (?) weeks and my ice was about $425 for the entire time.

My daughter is skating at a club in Calgary and has 3 hours a week and it cost her (me) over $700 -- she's on 'adult' sessions and would have to pay more to pick up additional ice. I'm on with all the kids (including some of my own middle school students -- wahoo! ).

My coach is NCCP Level 1 certified but does mostly Canskate and about as high as Sr. Bronze dance so far. She costs me $22/hour. Daughter works with a couple different coaches -- not sure what she's paying; Lisa Sargeant's one of them but the coaching bills are daughter's responsibility so I have no idea. SHE says it's a pretty reasonable rate...

Coach-cost wise, I pay $80/hour for my primary coach and $64/hour for my secondary coach.

This is in the DC metro area.

Yeah!!! I wish!!! I'll have to settle for taking 2 hour lunches though (and this is assuming that I am within a reasonable commute to a rink from my job too!)

Well, come on down to my neck of the woods (San Francisco Bay Area/Sillicon Valley)!!! LOTS of rinks throughout the Bay Area, including the beautiful Yerba Buena skating rink!!! (My home rink...) Also, LOTS of adult figure skaters out here too!!! And the job market is starting to come back here as well too (if you're into the computer business.)

For my freestyle ice time which I use for privates, the price is $15 which is approximately 45-50 minutes. There is another rink that has one hour(again, it equals 45 - 50 minutes) freestyle sessions for $8 but there isn't any strict rules being enforced so you are taking a huge gamble going there. Last time I went to the cheap session, I almost smashed into four people while I was "on program" .

Well, yeah but...how often is that, and how do you know ahead of time to plan your lessons and your day? I'd rather pay more and have the ice time I want, at times that are predetermined, and consistent, personally. 90 dollars a year for daily freestyle ice sounds like it would be too good to be true. I don't want my rink management to own me, heh.

Never mind that her rink is probably NOT year round... and I want nice smooth but software (freestyle) ice too ... not the hard hockey ice that's gonna screw my lower back on a wimpy waltz jump!!! (I'm so royally spoiled skating at my home rink!!!)

These are just "walk-on" prices...
Here one rink charges $7 or $8 depending on whether you're a member or non-member at their facility. (something like that) I pay $8 if I go and that's for one hour. I haven't gone to any freestyle sessions since the middle of 2004 - now I'm lucky enough to have a private lesson on a normally uncrowded public time. *knocks on wood*

My private half-hour lessons are $18 just for the lesson, *sometimes* $3 or $4 added to it for the public session. The instructor I used to have charged $22 for a 1/2 hour and I paid $5 added to it for the public session. My current coach, ironically, is not only less expensive, but more experienced and has a better personality.

A different rink charges about $10 for like an hour + 30-40 minutes - that one is a few miles from the one I mentioned above.

Another rink, the one closest to me, charges about $8 or $9 for an hour. I dunno if they still have freestyle times, but that's what they charged when they had them.
