I'm over 125 lbs but I'm only a pre-bronze/bronze dancer and I have the weeniest waltz jump ever. I wouldn't have called myself an energetic skater - even less so when I bought them. Maybe the new Competitors are stronger boots now than when I bought them?

When I got my boots, I was struggling to learn to go backwards, and was also struggling to fit boots to my feet. The only options I had available at the time were Risports, SP Teris and Reidells, unless I was prepared to ship boots in from overseas sight unseen - skating is not a major recreational activity in Australia and at the time the proshops were very limited in their range. Jacksons were only just coming in here, and I was able to be fitted in them. Good thing - the others were patently the wrong shape for my feet.

I hear you that the Freestyles are softer boots, but my understanding is that the Competitor is the lowest Jackson boot for which you can request modifications.
