Can someone explain testing and stuff like that to me?
Do you have do to a compitition to pass the test?
Cause at my rink, we have group lessons and the coach give us report card things to see if we move up or stay at that class. is that considered testing?
right now i think im around freestyle 3 or 4, so if i start testing do i have to test for alpha beta, gamma, delta, and things like that?

is it. sectionals, regionals ,nationals , then the olympics?
and whats before sectionals?

1. Testing is separate from competitions. Testing is where a skater performs perscribed moves in front of judges who judge each element then give it a score. For example, on the preliminary moves test (USFS) each move must be given an average of 2.5 in order to pass. In order to skate qualifying events, skaters must pass their levels' moves then freeskate.

Group lessons have a "testing" session that only allows a skater to move up to the next level. It has nothing to do with official testing in any track. Depending on what country you are in, you would begin with their first level of testing if you decided to go that route. In the US, if you skate USFS you would start with pre-preliminary moves, then pre-pre freeskate, etc.

2. The order for juvenile and intermediate skaters is regionals, Junior Nationals.
The order for novice, junior, and senior skaters is regionals, sectionals, Nationals.
Senior level skaters then can go on to Worlds or the Olympics, depending on what year and several other competitive factors.
Some senior skaters not old enough for senior worlds and junior skaters can qualify for Junior Worlds or various other internationals.

3. As to what is before hand, there are no official competitions before regionals. Skaters choose to do local competitions as they wish, there is no rule stating that you must have competed in any competition before you attend regionals, however you must have passed the proper tests.

USFSA has moves in the field and freestyle testing. Once you get through a few levels of freestyle at the basic skills level, you should be ready to test pre-preliminary moves.

You go to a testing session to be tested. You have to be a member of USFSA to test. Local clubs run testing sessions.

It's regionals, sectionals, nationals, worlds/olympics

Think of it this way - when you test, you are seeing whether your skills measure up to nationally-accepted standards for the level. When you compete, you are seeing how those skills measure up to those of other skaters who are in your age group and ostensibly the same level.
