What would you wish for in skating?

If there was one thing you could have in skating, something you'd wish for, what'd it be? What would be the one thing you'd change in your skating experiences so far?

It could be anything, like a skill or element or simply a different coach or mindset or a different body type or anything!! but only one thing.

I would wish that I had come back earlier.

I wrecked at 19 and had knee problems for more than 10 years. By then I had forgotten all about skating and it was 36 years before I started skating again. I wish I could have started back at 36 instead of 56!

I wish I wouldn't have cut back so much on skating in high school (although I do not regret focusing on school in any way!), that I would have continued to skate through college and grad school, or that I wouldn't have waited 2 years after graduating with my masters to start again....I am so much happier now that I've started skating again and doing something for myself. My job is one where we are always giving to others and do not often do things for ourselves, so it is nice to do something for me.

That I had skated as a kid and gotten really good at it, all while staying injury free.

That I could feel completely confident on the ice and show it. That would take care of all my other problems. Coming to it earlier might have done that, but if I'm wishing, why not go for the end result?

I'd wish for consistency and no injuries. There's nothing more frustrating than knowing you can do something well, but not being able to do it.

i would definitely wish for more confidence.any confidence for that matter... a lot my problems on the ice stem from me thinking i look like an idiot. i still feel weird when my coach tells me how much talent i have or people tell me that a jump looked good or anything like that.

I was I was more balanced, one of my sides is a lot stronger than the other, it took me ages when I first started to actually put weight on one foot. It is a complete pain at how different they are.

Also I wish I believed in myself more, because when I do I storm, but as soon as that lacks slightly I skate badly.

Sorry to say, but if I had a different body type, I think the jumping skills I would otherwise wish for would come more easily.

That I had gotten my private coach a year or two earlier! And that I had gone to another rink to get properly fitted for boots and get blades that were right for me (yeah, NOT comets!)

Last one: that my rink was open all summer long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That I wouldn't get so disappointed and put so much pressure on myself to do everything perfectly - it keeps me from relaxing when I go into the elements, causing me to fail at the elements, taking me back to square one of disappointment and internal pressure...

Sometimes I really need to just enjoy skating because it's fun. (All the time?)

I wish I would've starting skating as a child instead of waiting until I was 35. 1 1/2 years later, I'm still having problems with basic things that the kids don't seem to have a problem with such as bending my knees, jumping strength, and the fear of falling (actually it's more the fear of getting hurt due to a fall). My coach says it is quite common for adults to have these types of issues.

That I could get things quicker.

Baring that - more money and time to spend on skating since it takes me so long to get things.

Bette/more back flexibility!

I'd get not only a Biellmann spin, but also Sasha-style spirals Dick Button would be proud of!

I wish that new jumps were like diplomas: Once you got it, you HAD it and would always have it. I always roll my eyes whenever someone says, "I got my axel!"

I wish I could skate more often and without having to take time out every few weeks due to the kids being ALWAYS on school holidays.

That I was 30 years younger so I might have some hope of not actually looking silly out there and maybe passing my Level 4 compulsories!
