Yes! Finally!

I FINALLY passed my Adult MIF Silver Test! Praise the Lord! 2 years of many challenges: Rink(s) being over an hour away, rinks closing for different reasons, coaches leaving because of rinks closing, boot problems....but it is FINALLY OVER! I am so happy! I am ready for something NEW!

I couldn't believe i passed because although everything else was really good, i tripped up on the 8-step mohawk. I just decided to hold my posture and head high and SMILE the whole time, even if i fell! One of the coaches even wrote "nice smile" on my sheet! Amazing. I just wanted to share my happiness with you all!

Congrats ... I survived the test last November, so I know how challenging it can be!

Good luck on the silver FS test if that is your current goal.

That's so awesome! Congratulations!

Ugh, that 8-step mohawk sequence was my most hated move. I kept forgetting to point my toes as I brought my foot down on the second half of the mohawk, and several times I planted the heel of my blade in the ice while the rest of me kept going. BAM!! Huge hip bruise.

Hey Nova Sk8r - a question

Now that i have mastered the 3's in the field, how difficult are the double 3's in comparison, and what about the brackets (i think those are all in Gold MIF)?

Thanks, M-gro

Sorry it's not NoVa... but I find the double 3s are actually easier than the 3s in the field, since you're already on the proper edge and don't have to shift your weight (much) to prepare for the second turn. My coach and I have commiserated over how it's too bad the double 3s aren't on the Silver Test... since I can do these better than the 3s in the field. The things the judges are looking for on the double 3s are: correct placement of turns and no change in speed going into or out of the lobe. Have fun and good luck!
