um, i dunno they still seem okay with the holw in...

but the guards, i can't use them, firstly i have to have them on me, secondly i usually have to sit down to put them on and thirdly, i dunno. But its all time consuming because after putting them on i have to put on the silly loopy lock thing

With that kind of guard, you put the loop over the tail of the blade first, then pull to get the front on over your toe pick. I think yours may be falling off because you have them too loose. There should be just enough tension to be able to pull them forward over the toe pick. Since you are putting them on in the incorrect order, you don't have the tension, hence they fall off.
