You know what, it's one of my most favourite moves but I can't describe it, it's in some of the basic dances such as the Canasta Tango. Mrs Redboots where are you, your'e so good at explaining these things!!

Thank you Grace, dear!

Without going into too much detail, a swing roll is when you hold an edge long enough to swing your free leg through so that your free leg is forward, not back (or back, if you happen to be going backwards).

A cross roll is when you cross your free foot ahead of you (going forwards), rather like a crossover, but where when you do a crossover your foot goes down on to an inside edge, in a cross-roll, it goes on to an outside edge. Many dances have a set of 2-3 cross-rolls in them, and continuous cross-rolls are part of the various Skating Moves tests in many countries.
