Champagne toast: Whoa, I don't know what came over me this morning but I did a LOT of flips and one tiny little lutz! YAY! I haven't done a lutz in way over a year. This lutz was not for a program. But the flip...registering for Easterns gave me the kick in the butt that was sorely needed to get back to my old skating self. I hope it lasts. Footwork is coming along nicely except for a LBI three which still feels awkward.

Just toasted: my sit spin. Wasn't happening today. Very crowded freestyle so I didn't practice camels at all and I absolutely have to practice those. Yikes.

Toast! It was a MADHOUSE at the rink today!!! I checked to see if it was a full-moon but neh, it wasn't It got so bad with the little girls "playing around" there were two TOWING A GIRL BETWEEN THEM-THIS GIRL WAS BACKWARDS AND THEY WEREN'T LOOKING WHERE THEY WERE GOING EITHER!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!

Yes, I played UTTERLY MEAN MOM and made them stop!!!!

Champagne: things were ok even tho I haven't skated in about a week....give or take! I just went through a bit of everything and it was ok. I'm trying a new exercise to get me to KICK THRU on my jumps. I hate that my knee bends so much but I'll work through it. Spirals were ok, had more control of them.

Toasted: loops were 2-footed so I stopped after 3. Spins were crap so I stopped. I might be congested. Back spins were better (why is that? maybe because 1/2-1 rotation is ok....)

I gained 3 pounds over the holidays and feel horrible....

Champagne: Passed my Cha-Cha and Fiesta Tango last night!

Toast: And that was without skating with my coach or having a lesson in 2 weeks. I had less than 24 hours notice for the test! I practiced in the morning on a crowded public session with one Ipod earbud in, dodging cones and kids. Then went straight to a crazy day at work, and then straight to the test. Not my optimal preparation - whew!

CONGRATULATIONS!
I have to say that I'm not at all surprised. When I saw you skate the Fiesta at Jazzpants' Aviator meet-up, you were very graceful, flowy, and had good edges and smooth mohawks!

Thanks everybody! Although it was a crazy day, it was a great start to the new year to pass those dances.

Toasted:

We didn't have ice yesterday (stupid hockey tournament), and I woke up sick today and didn't feel like dragging myself to the rink 40 min away to try and suffer through skating, so I didn't make it on the ice at all this weekend

champagne toast - I'll toast my loop, which I think has finally moved in to stay, and - wait for it - my backspin! I'm finally getting a solid 3 revs repeatably and sometimes even more! I will pass FS3 in this lifetime.

just toast
- sitspin badly in need of concentrated effort, and I haven't even tried the flip in weeks.

This was for yesterday:
Champagne toast: my toe-loops! i only had to do 2, then we moved on....yay! Spirals; any done on my left foot are good....yeah.

Toasted: why can I only get part of my loops right? AAARRRGGGHHH!!!! If i get the timing right on one, I cant land it right, if I land one right I don't check out.....TOTAL FRUSTRATION! Spirals on my right foot total suck. I'm trying to get my left leg up and when I do my toe can't point OUT.

HILARIOUS MOMENT OF THE NIGHT: Me learning Ina Bauers!!!! OMG it was soooo funny!!!! All I did was get the arms right, the rest was spent with me curling round in little teeny circles!!!!!!!

I actually think my left (extended) leg wasn't meant to go out like that, I kept getting CRAMPS in my butt cheek!!!!

Champagne Toast: Coach decided to start teaching us a new dance - Golden Skaters Waltz. This is the first new dance I've started since learning the first four pretty much all at once, almost two years ago, so this feels like progress.

Toasted: Can't get the hang of the cross in front then cross behind bit. Grrrr. I know I don't like cross behinds (Rhythm Blues is my nemesis) but this is only a single one on its own. Stupid brain playing tricks on me!

Also toasted: Entire lesson was behind the cones as the session was crawling with children - thought they were meant to all go back to school today! Didn't stay until the end of the session as there was no point trying to get anything done, and the ice was really rubbish by that point.
