I'm tempted to say yes, with one stipulation:
I have to pass my Bronze free in order to attend.
Then again, I blew $$$ yesterday for a new computer, so we'll see how it turns out.

I may have done the Fiesta Tango test by then - or not. But I'm thinking I'll attend.

Right now I am in Adult 3 and I am thinking about going to the Hackensack Camp.

For the recreational skater how is this camp?

I did ice dance last year, so I was on a different rink from the recreational skaters. However, I saw them working on their rink during my breaks. They'd split their group into levels - with the more beginning skaters all in one class. From what I could tell, there were other skaters at your level, and they seemed to be having fun.

Floyd Hall Arena in Little Falls, NJ is holding a Skating Seminar from April 16 - 27, 2007. The special guest coach is Alexei Mishin. While the clinics being held are pretty high-level (doubles, etc), the agenda does include lower-level skaters. It's open to pre-adults and adults.

I thought it was a great experience. Last year, I couldn't even STOP properly when I went in and I still got so much out of it. Everyone was so supportive and when I couldn't do what was taught, they adapted to my level. I learned so much in that camp that I still refer back to now (most of my warm-up has now been blatantly stolen from the class Naomi Lang and Peter Tchernechev (sp?) taught, and every time I spin, I think of Edward's advice.

Just make sure to speak up when you can't do something, and usually you'll be given something that will challenge you-- to your level. I was literally the worst one there-- and I loved it.

Unless I manage to get injured AGAIN (heaven forbid-- knock on wood!), I'll be there!

Wow, sounds like Hackensack camp is getting high praise. I chose Lake Placid after considering both. Hope I did not make a mistake! But I just thought it would be wonderful to see Lake Placid as I have been to NJ but not up state NY!

Will be interested in hearing all about it after!

I'm considering the Hackensack camp, but do you HAVE to be there at 8:00 am and do the full day? I'm a total wimp and my stamina isn't that great right now and I worry I'd get too tired. I could maybe get there by 10:00 am. And this all depends on if I feel I have the right skating outfits. Or if I feel too fat.

Would love to hear more details from all of you who have been in past years. And will talk to coach about it tomorrow. Highest test I've passed is prelim moves and highest consistent jump is loop. Can sometimes do flip and the lutz is but a dream. Oh and my toe loop and waltz jumps suck!

I recommend that you do get there for the 8am start, because they seem to start with warm up and etc., and those exercises are very useful. But no, you don't have to skate or dance the entire time - actually, they work in breaks. I didn't feel too exhausted at the end of the day, and I'm no poster child for physical fitness. I felt tired, but not wiped, and even after the Saturday, I felt I could skate on the Sunday. I did make sure to stretch very well both nights, and I did a warm down after I skated for the day. That may have helped. I also took an Aleve at the start of each day, for my back, which is a land of constant sorrow.

One lady in my group would sit out when she needed to. She even took the entire last session of each day off, just sitting aside and watching. That didn't seem to be a problem. So if you need rest periods, or decide to cut it short one day, or to cut out specific on or off ice workouts, you can do so.

I just found out the sad news that the Mt. Pleasant adult seminar in Baltimore is CANCELLED this year. The rink will be closing for the summer after May 5 due to energy costs that are 67% higher than last year, reopening in the fall, probably close to Labor Day. FYI, closing the rink was not the decision of the pros teaching at the seminar.

Oooo, boy, rental skates included!!

Probably not going anywhere this year due to finances (had been planning on Sun Valley), but can people report back on the ice dance track at Ice House? Like, what they work on, if they're doing mainly low/mainly high stuff, etc? Any partnering work? That might be a good option in the future.
