That's so great! Madame's father was still skating when he was in his 80's and in fact was skating 3 months before he died, Madame's hoping to be just like him when she grows up;)

Great article - that's how I want to be when I grow up!

PS - they're in the metro-Detroit area. Wonder how many will be at AN?

I like the name "Rusty Blades". At our rink, we (adults) are the "Rinklers"

We have a group in our club up at Lake Placid..

They have the time of their lives and also they are on the Synchro team.

I was there in August a week before the Adult Week and there were some afternoons that I was the youngest one on the ice....at 57.

Every time I see or hear about "elders" who skate like that, I worry a little bit less about growing old. They are all so inspiring!

:) :D 8-) :P ;)

Oh, thank you for the article link!

When I was in about 6th grade, I skated on a Rusty Blades session (!!) when a friend's mom took her and I on a day off of school (I wonder, looking back, what the skaters thought of this). I suppose it was my first experience with adult skating.

And the Rusty Blades' "star skater" is a teacher at the high school that I went to. Hearing through my classmates (I never had her in class) about her accomplishments at Adult Nationals got the gears in my head churning.

4 or 5 years later...here I am. :)

Small world!

Loved the article. Gives me hope to skate for many years to come. I skate with a few older skaters and I'm always struck by what great shape their minds and bodies are. Skating does keep you young in my opinion. Another very good reason to always do so. Really, who wants to act their age? =-)
