Skating rinks in Dublin, Ireland

Someone I know is going to live in Dublin for a year and is wanting to know if there are any skating rinks there. Anyone from that part of the world able to help?

i used to live in dublin when i was very young, and there was no ice rink there. at least my mum said there was no ice rink there, but it might of changed since i was living there. and i was living there like 12 years ago.

Sadly, the rink in Dublin closed four or five years ago, and now skaters in the Republic are shipped to Dundonald, near Belfast, for their practice and lessons.

There are currently no permanent rinks in Dublin, or, to my knowledge, anywhere in the Republic of Ireland. However, this year the Dublin City Council has set up an outdoor, temporary rink for the Christmas season, though I'm not sure of the location. There is also another one in the Irish Financial Services Centre. People tell me that these rinks have been popular.

My best friend lives in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He doesn't skate - he's only tried to rollerblade a few times - but I want to get him interested in it, particularly ice skating. He wants to visit and move to the US, if or when I meet him hopefully I could take him to an ice rink with me. ;) That's one of my goals, if he and I meet that I'll get him to wear either figure skates or at least hockey ones. :lol:
