I passed Pre-Bronze MIF this afternoon. Had to reskate those pesky Alternating FO3s, but the alternating FI3s were fine. Had good comments on my perimeter stroking (about the only time in my skating life I've been complimented on my extensions) and on my forward/backward crossovers. Only comment on the 3s (either flavor) was that the cusp was at the top of the lobe.

I was HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY>>>>>

Congratulations! I'm green with envy. Those alt threes are my nemesis.

I will admit I fought for the check on the FO3s and on one side, stepped down well before the line, to avoid toe-tapping... and with the reskate, was worried that I would not pass. The reskate was somewhat better... and it was very obvious that I was fighting madly to hold the hip open and keep the check as long as possible.

Also the rest of the test was much stronger (even the LFI3 part of the alternating FI3s) so that carried me through. I was very proud of my alternating FI3s, because 3 weeks ago I could barely do the LFI3. For me the secret was to think about setting up as if I was doing the Blues choctaw... then after the turn, staying up on the knee and riding mid to back part of the blade.

And I am promising myself I will keep working on these to master holding the hip open and keeping the head back and not dropping into the circle on the check.

Hopefully, my battle with the Alt' (or ARGUH) 3's will be over in the spring!

Excellent! Hope you celebrated your success.

I always begin my sessions on the ice with alternating
threes, though I passed prelim moves several months
ago. What a deceptively simple move...

Good for you!!! Unfortunately for me, I'm relearning my 3 turn technique on my new skates and blades, so that test won't be coming until well into next year. The good news is all my technique is stronger now on these skates, so I know they'll likely improve.

Congratulations--you should be very proud!!!
