They never said if the second actually knew how to skate in the first place, lol. Might have been predestined to fail.

LoL yes. I suspect he didn't know how to skate, at least, how to do x-overs, because look at how he's sagging through his ankles!

We all know people have problems learning crossovers cuz they are afraid to shift their weight over and past the outside edge. You would need to have very confident edges and leans for this machine. The first skater looked pretty good, by hockey standards. Look at his knees.

I couldn't help thinking about the damage the exercise was doing to the edges on his blade. Worse than skating on synthetic ice.

I cannot see it helping with confidence to lean into the edge when you do it on ice, given we can't tilt the ice like that!
