After skating to some of the music in our Fairy Tales show last year, my DD has decided she wants to be the Evil Queen from Snow White for her next Showcase event. (She does evil very well!) I want to copy the dress from the movie as much as possible to make it very clear what she is (we'll also have a "mirror mirror on the wall" for her to talk to) but I was wondering what we could do about the skirt. The dress is going to be royal purple velvet, with long bell sleeves and a black hood (which she isn't crazy about, but it's part of the look). If I make the skirt freestyle length, I don't think it will look right but I didn't want to use chiffon and make it more dance length. What I'm thinking right now is a slightly longer box skirt, but am very open to ideas.

What about a longer skirt, but with a jagged hem to add to the eville look? A little like this:

Only not such a long skirt obviously! I think actually deeper jags would look good--they would flutter w/ the movement & you could even line the skirt w/ a different color which would show when it flared up....

or this (is that an ugly costume or what?!!)

I'd say.. do something your dd is going to love. You don't have to copy the cartoon exactly, if the music is obvious (and you have the mirror), people are going to realise who she's meant to be. So don't worry too much about getting as close as possible to the cartoon dress, just let your dd have fun.
