My daughter is 11 years old and has Aspergers Syndrome. She has been skating about 3 years, but for the past 2 years she has been skating for fun, and doesn't want to work at it, rarely spending more than 30 mins on the ice, twice a week. She can do some 1/2 rotation jumps and has an emerging 1 foot spin, she's in Aussie Skate level 1.

There's an Artistic competition coming up very soon that she wants to go in, and she needs to choose music like immediately. I've gone through my collection and googled a few things, no luck yet.

Last year she did "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun", which suited her perfectly. Everyone does a new program every year, and I can't imagine her wanting to repeat anyway.

She likes to jump around in her own style of dancing to the music, but doesn't really skate to the music. She has no interest in being a character or trying a different style. She likes boppy songs about being wild, crazy, having fun. And she has to like it.

Help! Any and all suggestions welcomed!

Has she any ideas of what she'd like to skate to? What's she been listening to lately? Maybe the current favourite song would be a good idea?

Are you sure she doesn't want to use the same music? My son has Aspergers. For two years whenever we go to Wendy's he orders the exact same thing. As I'm sure you know, people with Aspergers are not real crazy about change. If she's happy with the same music, I wouldn't rock the boat.

Try Rockstar by Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus or Material Girl by Madonna. Good luck!

How about something from ABBA? Have you seen Mama Mia? I grew up with the music, but if it is new to you, check out the movie. ABBA songs have a great dancing beat.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far, keep them coming !!!

Mrs Redboots: she doesn't listen to anything! I keep offering her an ipod and radio etc, doesn't want to know.

Jskater49: she isn't 'typical' Asbergers, some change causes great anxiety, yet she has a very low boredom threshold. No way will she use the same music.

Techskater: good suggestion, but was used last comp so she won't use that again. She prides herself on being original (but relies on Mum to come up with the original ideas).

I'm not familiar with the Hannah Montana stuff, but I do know she looks down her nose at High School Musical or anything that is popular enough to have merchandising, eg lunchboxes etc.

Does she like any country music ? I always thought Suds in the Bucket would be a cute program.

DD likes Shake a Tail feather by the Cheetah Girls and also Fuego by the Cheetah Girls.

My dd went to the Hayden synchro camp and they did a cute program to "Kung Fu Fighting"- maybe she'd like that.

Iggy Pop did a great version, I thought it would be a winner, but she didn't like it.

Thanks everyone for the amazing range of suggestions! She solved the problem herself last night, came across Funky Town on Youtube. I steered her to a version by an Australian 80's band, Pseudo Echo, which is punchier, and praise be, she likes it!

I've bought the CD off Ebay last night before she could change her mind.
