Change of foot spin

When you do the change, how long should the new free leg touch the ice for? Is it a half rotation sweep or minimal change over as possible?

The important thing is that you don't create a whole new entrance edge that takes you to a new spin center (or else it will be called as two separate spins). I think most skaters take a half circle on two feet before they are completely onto the new foot. You pretty much need to in order to get a decent push and stay on the same center.

Good question! I was wondering this too. I have a camel-backspin in my program and it seems to take me forever to get out of the camel position and ready to change feet.
